Translating religious texts can be a challenging process, particularly when it comes to conveying specialized terms and cultural nuances from the source language to the target language. The process is further complicated by the complexity of sentence structures and the absence of direct counterparts for certain concepts in the target language. The study focuses on the difficulties of translating Quranic verses with regard to the usage of pronouns in the source language, Arabic, and the target language, English. The paper examines the challenges posed by reference switching and ambiguity in pronouns and how these challenges can lead to potential misunderstandings among readers. Through a comprehensive analysis of translation strategies employed by translatorsto tackle these challenges, the research aims to contribute to a better understanding of the nuances of Quranic translation and the complexities of pronoun usage in the Quranic text.

تهدف هذه الدراسة الى تحديد كيفية كتابة التعليقات من قبل المستخدمين العراقيين على منصة الوسائط الاجتماعية "فيسبوك" للتعبير عن الفكاهة واكتشاف مدى تبعية هذه التعليقات لمبادئ لغوية محددة. وعلى الرغم من وجود الملايين من التعليقات الطريفة على مواضيع مختلفة، إلا أنه تم اختيار المشاركات السياسية في هذا البحث بسبب أهميتها البالغة في العراق حيث تحكم الكثير من الأوضاع التي يعيشها الناس حالياً. وبالنظر إلى أن العراقيين يستخدمون الفكاهة كوسيلة للتعبير عن الانخراط السياسي، فإن هناك العديد من المنشورات السياسية التي تستخدم الفكاهة بشكل كبير. وقد تم اختيار 28 تعليقًا لتحليلها باستخدام طريقة محددة لتحليل البيانات وتحديد مدى تبعية هذه التعليقات لمبادئ التعاونية ومدى الانحراف عنها. وتم إثبات حجج أتاردو الذي أشار إلى أن الشخص الذي يتحدث بشكل طريف لا يعني بالضرورة أنه غير متعاون في المحادثة. وأظهرت النتائج أن هناك قواعد محددة من مبادئ التعاونية تتبعها التعليقات، وهي قواعد العلاقة والأسلوب، بينما تم اتباع أقل قاعدة لمبدأ الجودة. كما تم الكشف عن حالات عدم مراعاة الأقوال المأثورة، وأوضحت الدراسة أن مسألة انتهاك القواعد تعتمد بشكل كبير على المعلق نفسه.

تركز هذه الدراسة على تحليل السخرية في تغريدات الرئيس السابق دونالد ترامب السياسية. يُعَدّ المفهوم البراغماتي للمفارقة مفهومًا معرفيًّا يستخدم لوصف التناقض الذي يحدث بين أكثر من مستوى من المعنى، والذي يتم تمثيله عن طريق تحديد العلاقة بين المصدر والمستوى المستهدف. تم تطوير نموذج يجمع بين العلاج المعرفي والبراغماتي والسخرية في هذه الدراسة، وتم استخدامه لتحليل تغريدات ترامب السياسية. كشف تحليل التغريدات التمثيلية لترامب عن بعض الاستنتاجات ذات الصلة بالسياسة، والنتيجة الأكثر أهمية هي أن المفارقة هي استراتيجية مهمة مستخدمة في السياسة لأنها مرتبطة بشكل كبير بمستويات مختلفة من اللغة، مثل التطابق والتناقض، والتي لا يمكن الوصول إلى آثارها إلا من خلال تحديد العلاقة بين مجالات المعنى المصدر والهدف.

Euphemism is one of the figures of speech by which the speaker tries to hide the exact nature of an unpleasant idea or thing by giving it another inoffensive name. Euphemism, as a language phenomenon, is initially acknowledged as a rhetorical device and coped with as one of the categories of figures of speech, by which the writers, poets and scholars decorate their writing styles and texts. They interpret euphemism as a sort of personal ability and used it to disguise the unpleasant ideas. Politics is the sphere of life which entered into the world of euphemism with the same intensity as other spheres, such as sexuality, health, ageing, etc. The use of euphemism in politics is marked by choosing alternative expressions in place of unpleasant ones, which may give offence to the audience. I hope this book will be of great benefit for those who are interested in the area of language and politics.

The Faculty of Languages at the University of Kufa held a scientific symposium entitled (Challenges and repercussions of Contemporary Translation), in which a group of teachers lectured. The symposium aimed to introduce the most important problems and errors that occur in the accuracy of translation, including translating religious terminology, which may be the result of religious extremism, divergence of cultures and their differences, or departure from contexts and lack of complete knowledge of the two languages translated from and into. The symposium included lectures by Dr. Basem Jubair Kazem, Vice President of the Iraqi Translators Association / Najaf Branch, Dr. Mujtaba Al-Helou and Assistant Lecturer, Zaid Najah Marza, a lecturer in the department, and moderated by Dr. Maha Lafta Marzouk, in which they dealt with the obstacles that faced the translation movement in Iraq as well as what communication produced. digital from a new language which precluded the provision of an accurate translation. The symposium concluded with addressing the most important ways and recommendations necessary to reduce the challenges facing the translator.

The College of Languages at Al-Kufa University organized a workshop titled "First Language Acquisition." During the workshop, Dr. Zaid Najah Marzah delivered a lecture on how children acquire their first language during their linguistic development. He explained that children naturally learn their first language through interaction with those around them, without the need for explicit or intentional teaching. They acquire the language through the linguistic cues they receive from the people they interact with. The workshop concluded that providing a rich and stimulating linguistic environment for children, through the use of games, books, songs, and movies, can enhance their language and communication skills. It also emphasized the importance of avoiding the use of vulgar or simplified language when communicating with children and instead using natural and correct language that is understandable to them.

Professor Zaid Najah Marzah from the English Language Department delivered a discussion session on "Cheating in Exams: Causes and Effects" on Monday, December 19, 2022, as part of the scientific department's activities. This was done in collaboration with the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit at the College of Languages. During the session, the professor discussed the negative impact of cheating on the educational process and provided a definition of cheating, types, and methods. The reasons behind cheating were also presented, based on a questionnaire conducted by the professor with a sample of University of Kufa students. At the end of the discussion, the professor presented several ways to combat cheating at the legal, educational, and scientific levels. The discussion session was attended by professors and students from the scientific department.
