Globally, colorectal cancer represents the most common cancer. Its
incidence was increases with advancement of age. Both men and
women face a lifetime risk of 6% to get colorectal cancer. Colorectal
cancer represents a major cancer-related health problem in Iraq and
significant attribution to morbidity and mortality related to cancer. It
ranked as the 7th most common malignant tumor in Iraq and account
for about 5.4% of all cancer in this country. Inflammatory bowel
disease represent a risk factor for development of colorectal
carcinoma and this was related to increased severity and duration of
the disease. On other hand colorectal polyp may transform to
carcinoma and this risk was more with larger polyps and polyps with
sever dysplasia. Adenomatous Polyposis coli gene is a tumor
suppressor gene. Its inactivation represents a common genetic
alteration in this tumor. This mutation in such gene occur both I
sporadic as well as inherited cancers. This study was designed to
clarify the role of APC gene and its protein in both colorectal cancer
and its precancerous lesion and put the shadow on its possible role in
disease development and progression. APC protein was reported in
33 out of 60 cases of colorectal cancer, 16 out of 50 cases of
colorectal polyps, and 11 out of 50 cases taken from patients with
ulcerative colitis. There was no expression of APC protein in normal
looking tissues in all cases. APC expression was showed significant
differences when grade and stage were considered. APC gene was
altered in colorectal cancer and its precursor lesion and this alteration
were correlated well with grade and stage of disease. The alteration
plays a role in both disease development and progression

The aim of the present is to determine the immunohistochemical
expression of EGFR, EMA and CD117 in case of urinary bladder
transitional cell carcinoma and their relation with staging of tumor and
its impact on further prognosis. EGFR immunohistochemical study
showing (61.5 %) positive in case of urinary bladder carcinoma with
significant difference between staging of tumor (p value 0.019) with
signification expression between low grade and high grade tumor with
P value 0.002 (6.2%) positivity in high grade versus (15.4 %) positivity
in low grade). EMA showing strong positivity in urothelial carcinoma
96.2% without significant difference between staging and grading of
tumor with p valve of (0.57) and (0.227) respectively CD117
immunohistochemical study showing total positive cases of urinary
bladder carcinoma of 69.2% with significant difference in comparison
with staging and grading of tumor with (P-value=0.00) for each
respectively.
Our result demonstrate that EGFR and CD 117 immunohistochemical
staining showing strong positivity in majority of urothelial carcinoma
cases with significant relation to both pathological grading and staging
of tumor. Application of both markers may play a role to give idea
about behavior of tumor and possibility of further recurrence with and
even direct therapy application EMA showing strong positive
expression which give idea about tumor origin from epithelial lining. It
had no benefit in assessment of tumor grading and staging

Diabetes mellitus is a common endocrine disease. It impairs glucose homeostasis.Rosiglitazone (RSG) is an
efficient hypoglycemic remedy. It enhances insulin sensitivity. There a conflict regarding safety of this drug. This
work was designed to solve this conflict.Fasting blood sugar were significantly dropped down in all studied
groups as compared to diabetic group. All groups showed significant decrement in serum level of insulin as
compared to normal control. There was significant increment in the level of serum urea level in diabetic rats.
This level was significantly decrease in those diabetic rats treated with RGS in a dose of 0.1 & 0.2 mg.
Histological examination of the pancreas from diabetic rat’sshowing necrosis of both exocrine and endocrine
pasts with lymphocytic infiltrations and vascular congestion, this in comparison with essentially normal
histolologic appearance of the pancreas in all other groups. The study highlights the effectiveness of RGS in
controlling blood sugar as well its protective effect on pancreas.

Background: Lung cancer is a major public health problem. It is the most common cause of cancer-related
death in men and the second most common in women. Moreover, EML4-ALK( the echinoderm microtubuleassociated protein like4-anaplastic lymphoma kinase fusion gene ) has been identified as a potent oncogenic
driver in non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), in particular adenocarcinoma (ADC) and less commonly
squamous cell carcinoma. The aim of current of study was to investigate ALK protein overexpression and
its correlation with EML4- ALK gene rearrangement by CISH. Method: The paraffin embedded blocks
were retrospectively collected from 80 patients diagnosed with NSCLC. ALK protein study was performed
by using Monoclonal Mouse Anti-Human for IHC and for EML4-ALK fusion gene by using CISH (CISH
working solution /Zytovision, Germany). Results: ALK protein overexpression was detected in (10%, n=
8/80) of NSCLC and the ALK gene rearrangement was (7.5%, n= 6/80). There was high concordance in the
assessment of ALK gene rearrangement by CISH techniques and ALK protein expression by IHC ( P= 0, r=
0.94). Conclusion: IHC and CISH were very well correlated in detection of ALK protein expression and
ALK gene rearrangement, respectively. Also, CISH is a new and highly practical method to detect EML4-
ALK, therefore, it could be introduced in plans of ADC management and less commonly SCC of the lung.

Different cervical lesion (Benning, Premalignant and malignant) and its relation one to other in development of cervical carcinoma. Materials and Methods: forty-nine cases of cervical lesion formalin fixed - paraffin embedded tissue specimens of the cases. Stained tissue sections of all the cases were evaluated to confirm diagnosis and assure the presence of representative tissue material. All cases with tissue sections that were appropriate for immunohistochemical evaluation, positive tissue controls were obtained according to primary antibodies manufacturer’s data-sheets tissue sections of a uterus adenosequamus as p16 primary antibody, sections of skin wart tissue were used as positive control for HPV marker. A statistical analysis was preformed between the immunohistochemistry for marker each other. Results: The test results for control group: All patients had with histopathology changes and staining of cytoplasm. Among Benign group; twenty samples (100%) showed benign lesion change. Among premalignant group seven samples (78%) showed CIN-1 change. two samples (22%) showed CIN-2. Among Malignant group; six samples (30%) showed poorly differentiated. Eleven samples (55%) showed moderate differentiated. three samples (15%) showed well differentiated. Also, the intensity of premalignant lesion shows between weak and moderate and no one showing in strong, while for malignant intensity showing two sample in weak and two sample in moderate and two strong intensity.
