Abstract

Abstract Background: Binding of GATA proteins is among the six members of a transcription factor family. Contributing to the luminal differentiation of breast epithelium, alongside the development of the collecting system and The process of trophoblastic differentiation. Methods: The present study collected 160 blood samples, which were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of healthy women (40), while the second group comprised patients with breast cancer (120 women). Results: ELAISA techniques were employed to assess the prognosis of breast cancer based on serum parameters associated with immuno gene transcriptions. The immunomodulatory GATA, binding protein 3, is recognized as a transcription" factor that is significant in the differentiation of breast epithelial cells. Additionally, interleukin-37 (IL-37) ,alternatively designated as Interleukin-1 family member-7, (IL-1F7), is an anti-inflammatory cytokine that is critical for the attenuation of start-inflammatory cytokine synthesis and the inhibition of cancer cell growth. The statistical analysis of the immune markers (GATA3 and IL-37) indicated a significant relationship with cancer when comparing the 120 samples collected from patients to the 40 samples from healthy individuals. The results were highly significant, with a p-value of <0.004, in Najaf Al-Ashraf. Conclusion: All immune markers indicate the presence of cancer in the body, which confirmed the clinical signs that were verified, such as redness and breast spotting, which were closely associated with the disease.

Abstract

Abstract: Background: Chemotherapy remains a cornerstone of cancer therapy, yet its clinical application is often limited by severe systemic toxicities. Doxorubicin (DOX), a potent anthracycline, is associated with dose-dependent cardiotoxicity and pulmonary damage, whereas methotrexate and other cytotoxic agents also cause multi-organ toxicity. Recently, natural compounds such as artemisinin, derived from Artemisia herba-alba, have gained attention for their antioxidant and cytoprotective properties. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of artemisinin against doxorubicin-induced pulmonary toxicity and to evaluate its potential as a safer adjunct in chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: A total of 120 mice were divided into four groups: control (normal saline), artemisinin (60 mg/kg), doxorubicin (5 mg/kg), and a combination group receiving both agents. Treatments were administered over one-, two-, and three-week intervals. Lung tissues were collected, fixed in 10% buffered formalin, and examined histopathologically using light microscopy. Results: Histological analysis revealed severe pulmonary damage in the DOX group, characterized by bronchiolar disruption, alveolar wall destruction, and inflammatory infiltration. In contrast, the artemisinin-treated group showed normal pulmonary architecture comparable to the control. Co-administration of artemisinin and doxorubicin (ARD group) markedly reduced the severity of lung injury, demonstrating partial preservation of alveolar and bronchiolar structures. Conclusion: Artemisinin exhibited significant protective effects against doxorubicin-induced pulmonary toxicity without causing observable tissue damage on its own. These findings suggest that artemisinin may serve as a promising adjunct in chemotherapy to minimize organ-specific side effects and improve treatment safety in clinical oncology.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: The Masks serve as a protective measure to prevent the transmission of infections, particularly in the context of the Coronavirus outbreak. There are various types of masks, including medical masks utilized in public settings like hospitals and clinics, as well as regular masks intended for use at home or during instances of coughing. As for the medical mask, it is made from three main materials: a non-woven fabric made of fine fibers connected to each other, ear straps to secure the mask on the face, in addition to a nose wire that holds the mask on the nose and keeps it in place. Purpose: this study is to know the effect of wearing a mask on blood pressure, cell size, and the expected outcome in the future. Methods: The samples were divided into groups: the first group consisted of 80 samples from employees who do not wear a mask, and this group was considered the control group. It was divided into subgroups that included males and females. The second group consisted of another 80 samples from employees who wore the mask throughout their working hours, and it was also divided into two subgroups, including 40 males and 40 females. The third and final group included samples from employees who wore the mask moderately and not throughout the working hours. This group was also divided into two subgroups, 40 males and 40 females. Results: The mean corpuscular volume (MCV) increased (84.888, 97.777, 127.804, respectively). This difference was statistically significant (p < 0.001), the ratio of red blood cells to total blood volume (RBCV) was significantly higher in women who wore masks throughout their working hours compared to women who wore masks moderately and only in crowded places. This ratio was also high but within normal limits. (57.33, 44.01, 37.98, respectively) and this variance was significant with a value of 0.001. The results were also similar in men and were also high (Hematocrit), respectively (62.01, 51.85, 42.01). This had a significant effect with (p < 0.001). Overall, women had a greater effect than men. The results were also similar for men and were also high (hct), respectively (62.01, 51.85, 42.01). This had a significant effect (p < 0.001), and overall, women had a greater effect than men.
