Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to explore the dissemination of blaOXA-23 gene among bacterial causative agents of urinary tract infections. A total of 54 samples of urine from patients with Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) during the period from November, 2021 to March, 2022, out of 36 samples were positive growth. Gram-negative bacteria were 27 (75%) (Which include 11(31%) of isolates were identified as E. coli, 7(19%) of isolates identified as K. pneumoniae, 6(17%) Acinitobacter bumanni, 2(8%) proteus merabilis, and 1(3%) Pseudomonas aeruginosa.). While 9 (25%) were gram-positive isolates 6 (17%) were S. aureus and 3(5%) were Enterococcus faecalis. Carbapenems susceptibility was performed by disk diffusion method, where Meropenem antibiotic showed that out of 36 isolates 19 (55%) were resistant (6 (31.5%) A. bumanni, 3 (15.8%) S. aureus, 3 (15.8%) E. feacalis, 2 (10.5%) E. coli, 2 (10.5%) K .pneumoniae, 2 (10.5%) P. mirabilis and 1 (5.4%) P. aeruginosa), as for Imipenem antibiotic showed that out of 36 isolates 16 (45%) were resistant (6 (37.5) A. bumanni, 3 (18.7%) K. pneumonia, 3 (18.7%) S. aureus, 2 (12.5%) E. coli, 1 (6.3%) P. merablis and 1 (6.3%) P. aeruginosa.). Total DNA extract samples were used in blaOXA-23 gene detection, results showed that total Acinetobacter baumannii isolates(6) were positive for blaOXA-23 gene, then in K. pneumoniae out of 7 isolates 4 were positive for blaOXA-23 gene, out of 11 E. coli isolates 2 were positive for blaOXA-23 gene, in Proteus mirabilis and pseudomonas auroginosa isolates 2 and 1 respectively all were positive for blaOXA-23 gene, while in all isolates of S. aureus and Enterococcus faecalis blaOXA-23 gene was not detected. We conclude that various types of gram negative UTI causative agents harbored blaOXA-23, meanwhile its absence in isolated gram positive isolates.

Abstract

Abstract Lactobacillus is one of the most important genera in the human and animal digestive tract. They can be found in dairy and non-dairy probiotic foods, and they aid in the restoration of intestinal microflora, which is good for one's health. Lactobacillus strains were phenotypically identified and defined using biochemical characteristics. For the current study, 120 fecal samples were collected from healthy breast-feeding infants aged two years and under. We looked at a couple of primers on complex communities to see if they could service our investigation of complicated micro-ecosystems. The two primers provided positive results with L.acidophilus and L. helveticus. Their strains came from the feces of breast-fed litters. The remains obtained from DNA samples were sequenced and uploaded to the GenBank "NCBI" database after PCR augmentation.

Abstract

Abstract The study involved the isolation of enterococcus bacteria and diagnosis of different types of diseases, where (190) samples of cows suffering from different diseases were obtain (34) (18.1%) isolation of Enterococcus were divided into 21 (15.6% ) Of the blood, 8 (52.4%) and 3 (17.6%) of the vagina, but not isolated from the spinal cord samples. The study was conducted on 2 isolates from the blood samples to become the number of isolates (36 isolates). And the study showed that type E. Faecalis was the most common species, with 75% followed by E. faecium (20.2%) and E.galinarium (4.8%), which also revealed the virulence factors of these bacteria, which play an important role in their disease. Bacteria have the ability to produce Haemolysin, Protease, Lipase, β-Lactamase, and the formation of capsules and their ability of Haemagglutination and of the effect of mannos on this process.

Abstract

Collectively 117 isolates of E. coli were obtained from 3 hospitals in Najaf during June to Augest 2010. The antibiotic susceptibility patterns of isolates were determined by disk approximation test. Phenotypic confirmatory test (PCT) was carried out for screening of ESBLs by CHROMagar method.Present study revealed that no ESBL producer E. coli isolates were confirmed by disk approximation test, the efficacy of CHROMagar method for the recognition of ESBL-producing isolates was second documented in Najaf. The high occurrence of ESBL producing E. coli isolates in this study may perhaps due to the large amount of third generation cephalosporins consumption, which has been reported as a risk factor for infection with ESBL-producing isolates bacteria

Abstract

Multiple resistances to antimicrobial drugs arising in Escherichia coli isolates may complicate therapeutic management of urinary tract infection (UTI) by this organism. In order to assess the multidrug resistance (MDR) among urinary E. coli isolates, we have tested 27 antimicrobial drugs against 192 isolates from patients with significant bacteriurea from 3 hospitals in Najaf during june to Augest 2011. The number of patients with urinary tracts infection was higher in females, 136 (70.9%) compared to males, 56 (29.1%). The antibiotic susceptibility patterns of isolates were determined by disk diffusion method. Among the isolates from the hospital patients, 95.3%, 94.3%, 93,8%, 92.2%, 91.7%, and 90.1% were resistant to carpencillin, ticarcillin, ampicillin, cefepim, cefamandol, and pipracillin, respectively; Resistant profile for cefoxitin, and amoxicillin was 85.4% and 80.2%, respectively. Uoropathogenic E. coli was resistant to cefotaxime, cefetriaxon, and Aztreonam (71.4%), and resistance to trimetheoprim, doxicycllin, ceftazidim, amoxiclave, and nalidixic acid were 69.8%, 68.2%, 68.8%, 67.2%, and 61%, respectively. susceptibility prfile to aminoglycosid antibiotics (tobramycin, gentamycin, and amikacin) were 56.8%, 53.1%, and 10.4%, respectively. And for fluoroquinolons (ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, and levofloxacin) were 49%, but for gatifloxacin, resistant was 40.6%. E. coli was resistance to chloramphenicol and nitroforantoin 17.7% and 12%, respectively. The high prevalence of drug resistance among UTI patients calls for continuous surveillance to assure effective control of this infection.
