Abstract - This study examines the coverage of the First World War (1914–1918) in Al-Muqtataf, one of the earliest Arab scientific and cultural journals to interpret global events through a rational and analytical framework. Rather than adopting a news-driven or emotionally charged narrative, the magazine approached the war as a complex political, economic, and civilizational phenomenon, emphasizing causality, longterm consequences, and the ethical implications of modern science in warfare. The analysis is based on a corpus of 74 articles published between 1914 and 1918, examined through a historical-analytical approach combined with sociocognitive critical discourse analysis inspired by van Dijk. The study investigates language, style, intellectual orientation, and editorial positioning toward the conflicting powers, particularly the Ottoman and British empires, with close attention to neutrality, ideological framing, and discursive silences. The findings show that Al-Muqtataf maintained a predominantly rational and conservative discourse grounded in scientific explanation and moral reflection, deliberately distancing itself from political mobilization and emotive rhetoric. While the magazine articulated an early critique of Western modernity and the militarization of science, it largely avoided direct engagement with decisive Arab political issues such as colonial partition and national self-determination. This selective neutrality reveals both the intellectual strength and the historical limitations of elite cultural journalism in a colonial context. Theoretically, the study demonstrates how epistemological neutrality can function as a form of discursive power, shaping political meaning through omission as much as articulation. Historiographically, it challenges Eurocentric narratives of World War I by centering Arab scientific journalism as an active, though constrained, intellectual response to global crisis. By reframing Al-Muqtataf as a strategic discursive actor rather than a neutral transmitter of knowledge, the article contributes to broader debates on media, expertise, and intellectual responsibility in times of war.

In this study, the authors examine how journalism affects the societal awareness regarding 2D nanomaterials and their use in photocatalysis, using the content of the press from 2000 to 2025. The analytical approach and historical approach of the study help them to comprehensively examine a variety of sources, such as newspapers, archival repositories, science magazines, press releases, and peer-reviewed journals. The study points to the media discourses of atomic and electronic structures of doped graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), and layered metal oxides in influencing popular imagination of interfacial charge transfer, defect engineering, and photocatalytic performance. The paper also illustrates the use of the heteroatoms (N, S, P) and vacancy engineering to introduce to the eyes of journalism as the key to visible-light-driven photocatalytic defect trapping and pollutant degradation. Statistical information shows that the number of references to photocatalysis has changed greatly, as the percentage of mentions grew by 3% in 2000-2005 until 63% in 2021-2025, and the focus has shifted to the discussion of sustainability and environmental impact rather than the excitement surrounding the development of photocatalysis. The findings demonstrate that journalism was not only covering the scientific developments, but also presenting them in the major sociopolitical perspectives of renewable energy, environmental cleanup, and the policy of nanotechnology. This coverage change has helped to transform 2D nanomaterials from unpredictable objects of science to the perspective of sustainable development. Future directions in this field should be on the large-scale incorporation of the 2D nanomaterials in environmental and energy applications, as well as on the issue of ethics and regulations of using the same. Also, the research on how social media influences the formation of population knowledge about the new technologies will provide important information about the changing patterns of science communication.

Iraq is witnessing growing environmental challenges, including air and water pollution, desertification, and climate change, but the national media has not kept pace with these issues with institutional seriousness, especially in print and electronic newspapers. This research aims to analyze the reality of specialized environmental journalism in Iraq, focusing on the absence of specialized newspapers and magazines, and the lack of a sustainable methodology in environmental coverage in the general press. Through an analytical review of Iraqi paper and electronic newspapers during the period (2010–2025AD), and the monitoring of formal and informal initiatives, the research reveals the absence of an environmental media structure, and highlights the institutional and cultural challenges that hinder the growth of this media pattern. The researchers suggest creating an institutional environmental media that is integrated into sustainable development policies, based on specialization, training, and partnership with universities and environmental bodies. This media absence represents a missed opportunity to form community environmental awareness and create public opinion in support of the environment, in light of the escalation of climate and environmental crises.

يهدف البحث الى التعرف على احد اساطين العلم والسياسة في التاريخ العربي الاسلامي لمدينة الاندلس،اذ شهدت الاخيرة في عهده تقدما علميا وازدهارا فكريا،الا وهو الحاكم الاموي الحكم المستنصر،وتاتي هذه الدراسة بوصفها محاولة لالقاء الضوء وبشكل مركز على البيئة التي عاش فيها،والقنوات الفكرية والمعرفية التي نهل منها،ثم اثره في تاريخ مدينته،كما وتناولت هذه الدراسة جهوده في التاليف وتقريبه للعلماء والكتاب والادباء، والى تاسيس مكتبة وصفت بأنها "أشهر مكتبة في التاريخ الاسلامي"،وبذلك خط أسمه في كتب تراجم الأعلام البارزين في الحضارة العربية الاسلامية.

تتركز هذه الدراسة حول أثر البيئة الأسرية في تنشئة الفرد،ولما لها من أثر في بلورة أفكاره ورؤاه،ولاسيما ان كان الأبوان محبين للعلم والتعلم،هكذا عاش جون ملتن وسط بيئة شغوفة بالمعرفة والتزود منها،وحريصة أيما حرص على حصول أبنها على قدر كبير من العلم،ولذا عهد بتعليمه عند أبرز الشخصيات العلمية آنذاك فبرزت مواهبه الأدبية وأخذت نتاجاته الفكرية بالنمو لم تكن حياة جون ملتن معبدة بالسعادة ،وانما نال منه الحزن حيزا كبيرا،ومع ذلك بقي متمسكا بالامل والقلم واخذت نتاجاته الأدبية والمعرفية تتوالى وصارتمنابرا لتعريف قرائها بما آمن به من آراء اصلاحيةجعل التعليم أولى أدواته وأهمها وصولا الى مساهمته في الحياة السياسية في انكلتر،وتنبيه افكارا كالسلام وحرية النشر والتعبير والاصلاح الديني وتعديل نظام الكنيسة في بلاده،فضلا عم ايمانه بضرورة فصل الدين عن الدولة ،وتاييده لنظام سياسي تقوده النخبة المثقفة من ابناء بلده.
