Professor Dr. Zaid Abbas Karim Al-Kubaisi, Professor of Philosophy at the College of Arts, presented a live philosophical lecture (online) in the Department of Islamic Studies at Beheshti University in the Islamic Republic of Iran. His lecture was entitled (The Structure of Moral Discourse in the Holy Qur’an).
In this lecture, Al-Kubaisi reviewed a number of topics related to morality in the Holy Qur’an, as he emphasized that morality in the Holy Qur’an is a system built according to a general system that regulates its mutual relationships and gives it its meaning and pragmatic value in all its historical and human dimensions. In this lecture, he adopted a structural approach that says: Ethics in the Holy Qur’an consist of elements or units that have a separate, independent existence, but at the same time they exist within a general structure or system, as these elements can lose their importance or meanings outside the framework of that general system.
Al-Kubaisi stressed that this is proven through evidence from Qur’anic verses, and that the Qur’anic moral discourse presents a correct global Qur’anic view that sees the world as a cohesive unit and a complete, comprehensive system, and that the necessary existence is the center of this system, and everything else is connected to it and dependent on it. At the same time, there are complete relationships and harmony between creatures. Everything has its role in reforming human society and purifying it from forms of moral defect.
