A Comprehensive Survey on Face Detection Techniques

AuthorsAli Nadhim Razzaq, Mohammad Dosh
JournalWebology
Abstract

The need for automatic understanding and examination of data increased with the tremendous growth of video and imaging databases. The change of identity, feelings and attitudes of a person's face always play a key role in terms of social communication. It is difficult for human beings to distinguish and identify various faces. Hence, we can say that in face recognition, the automatic computer-aided face detection system plays an important role

Abstract

A fault is a non-desired deviation in the system or one of its components from normal behaviour. Fault diagnosis is the process of detecting such a fault. In this work, a method to diagnose a fault in electrical power systems is proposed. These systems consist of several components along with sensors to measure some properties such as current

Detecting insider threat within institutions using CERT dataset and different ML techniques

AuthorsMohammed H. Dosh
JournalPeriodicals of Engineering and Natural Sciences
Abstract

The reason of countries development in industrial and commercial enterprises fields in those countries. The security of a particular country depends on its security institutions, the confidentiality of its employees, their information, the target's information, and information about the forensic evidence for those targets. One of the most important and critical problems in such institutions is the problem of discovering an insider threat that causes loss, damage, or theft the information to hostile or competing parties. This threat is represented by a person who represents one of the employees of the institution, the goal of that person is to steal information or destroy it for the benefit of another institution's desires. The difficulty in detecting this type of threat is due to the difficulty of analyzing the behavior of people within the organization according to their physiological characteristics. In this research, CERT dataset that produced by the University of Carnegie Mellon University has been used in this investigation to detect insider threat. The dataset has been preprocessed. Five effective features were selected to apply three ML techniques Random Forest, Naïve Bayes, and 1 Nearest Neighbor. The results obtained and listed sequentially as 89.75917519%, 91.96650826%, and 94.68205476% with an error rate of 10.24082481%, 8.03349174%, and 5.317945236%.

Unsupervised Approach for Email Spam Filtering using Data Mining

AuthorsMehdi Ebady Manaa, Ahmed J. Obaid and Mohammed Hussein Dosh
JournalEAI Endorsed Transactions
Abstract

The computer networks overwhelm with unwanted emails, which are called spam emails. This email brings financial damage to companies and losses of user reputation. In this paper, the increasing volume of these emails has created the intense need to design and implement robust anti-spam filtering using the vector space model and Machine Learning (ML). ML algorithms have successfully used to detect and filter spam emails that jeopardize the network resources and consume the bandwidth. The main objective is to apply unsupervised learning M-DBSCAN to classify spam and ham emails.

A multi-levels RNG permutation

AuthorsAmmar Khaleel, Abdullah Aziz Lafta, Mohammad Dosh
JournalIndonesian Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Abstract

The paper proposes a new general method for producing a multilevel permutation functioning as an m-tree traversal. It is composed of two basic steps: a random number generator of period length equal m to determine which child to traverse, and recursive permutation in which permutated the subtree if found. The test results proved that the suggested method of permutation is successful depending on the correlation measure.

Packing Unequal Circles into a Square Container based on the Narrow Action Spaces

AuthorsHe Kun , DOSH MOHAMMED Jin Yan
JournalSCIENCE CHINA Information Sciences journal
Abstract

We propose a Partitioned Action Space and Partitioned Circle Items (PAS-PCI) approach for the problem of packing unequal circle items in a single two-dimensional square container such that the size of the container is minimized. The PAS is used to partition the narrow action space on the long side to find two equal action spaces to fully utilize the unoccupied spaces. The PCI are used to partition the circle items into four groups based on item sizes for the basin-hopping strategy. Starting from several random patterns, PAS-PCI runs the following potential descent method and basin-hopping strategy iteratively. It finds patterns with the local minimum potential energy by the limited-memory BFGS (LBFGS) algorithm, then it selects the circular items having the most deformations and moves them to some large vacant space or randomly chosen vacant space. By adapting the action space defined for the rectangular packing problem, we approximate each circular item as a rectangular item, thus making it much easier to find comparatively larger vacant spaces for any given pattern. The tabu strategy is adopted to prevent cycling and enhance diversity during the search procedure. Several other strategies, such as randomly swapping pair-wise similar circle items in each set, are combined to increase the diversity of the patterns. Experimental results show that the PAS-PCI algorithm is effective for the addressed problem.

A Greedy Heuristic Based on Corner Occupying Action for the 2D Circular Bin Packing Problem

AuthorsKun He, Mohammed Dosh
JournalCommunications in Computer and Information Science journal
Abstract

The paper proposes a new two-dimensional circular bin packing problem (2D-CBPP) that is closely related to the well-known 2D rectangular bin packing problem and the single container circle packing problem. Inspired by Gold corner, silver side and strawy void for Chinese Go game, a greedy algorithm based on corner occupying action (GACOA) is proposed for solving the 2D-CBPP. We define the corner occupying action to pack the outside circles into a bin as compactly as possible, such that the number of used bins is minimized. As there are no existing benchmarks for this proposed problem, we generate two sets of benchmark instances with equal and unequal circles respectively. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs quite well on these 2D-CBPP instances.

Packing Unequal Circles into a Square Container by Partitioning Narrow Action Spaces and Circle Items

AuthorsKun He , Mohammed Dosh, Shenghao Zou
JournalCornell University
Abstract

We address the NP-hard problem of finding a non-overlapping dense packing pattern for n Unequal Circle items in a two-dimensional Square Container (PUC-SC) such that the size of the container is minimized. Based on our previous work on an Action Space based Global Optimization (ASGO) that approximates each circle item as a square item to efficiently find the large unoccupied spaces, we propose an optimization algorithm based on the Partitioned Action Space and Partitioned Circle Items (PAS-PCI). The PAS is to partition the narrow action space on the long side to find two equal action spaces to fully utilize the unoccupied spaces. The PCI is to partition the circle items into four groups based on size for the basin hopping strategy. Experiments on two sets of benchmark instances show the effectiveness of the proposed method. In comparison with our previous algorithm ASGO on the 68 tested instances that ASGO published, PAS-PCI not only gains smaller containers in 64 instances and matches the other 4 but also runs faster in most instances. In comparison with the best record of the Packomania website on a total of 98 instances, PAS-PCI finds smaller containers on 82 and matches the other 16. Note that we updated 19 records for (47-48, 51-54, 57, 61-72) that had been kept unchanged since 2013.

Using 1DCNN for Diagnosis Fault in Electricals Power System

AuthorsNoor Hassan, Mohammed Dosh
JournalKalahari Journals
Date2024-02-01
Abstract

A fault is a non-desirable deviation of a system or one of its components from normal behaviour. Fault diagnosis is the process of detecting, isolating, and identifying such a fault. In this paper, a method to diagnose the fault in Unmanned Aircraft Vehicles (UAVs) systems is proposed. These systems consist of several components along with sensors to measure some properties such as current, voltages, and temperatures. In such a system, faults are unavoidable and could lead to the failure of the whole system without timely treatment, and cause human losses. The proposed method adopts a deep learning technique to build a model called diagnose. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) made.
