مختصر البحثImage similarity or distortion assessment is fundamental to a wide range of applications throughout the field of image processing and computer vision. Many image similarity measures have been proposed to treat specific types of image distortions. Most of these measures are based on statistical approaches, such as the classic SSIM. In this paper, we present a different approach by interpolating the information theory with the statistic, because the information theory has a high capability to predict the relationship among image intensity values. Our unique hybrid approach incorporates information theory (Shannon entropy) with a statistic (SSIM), as well as a distinctive structural feature provided by edge detection (Canny). Correlative and algebraic structures have also been utilized.

مختصر البحثThe direction of image similarity for face recognition required a combination of powerful tools and stable in case of any challenges such as different illumination, various environment and complex poses etc. In this paper, we combined very robust measures in image similarity and face recognition which is Zernike moment and information theory in one proposed measure namely Zernike-Entropy Image Similarity Measure (Z-EISM). Z-EISM based on incorporates the concepts of Picard entropy and a modified one dimension version of the two dimensions joint histogram of the two images under test. Four datasets have been used to test, compare, and prove that the proposed Z-EISM has better performance than the existing measures.

مختصر البحثImage similarity is the underlying technology in many computer vision applications and is the source of many algorithms used in image processing. Many of images similarity measures have been proposed in the medical image field and computer vision community. There is no optimal image similarity measure but a set of measures that are appropriate for particular applications. In this paper, we present a highly efficient hybrid measure for image similarity that is based on statistical and momental measures. We propose a similarity measure called the statistical-Zernike measure (SZM), to determine a reliable similarity between any two images including human faces images. This measure combines the best features of high order statistic (HOS) with Zernike moments (ZMs). Simulation results show that the proposed measure outperforms the well-known similarity measures SSIM, FSIM, ZMs and the state-of-art (KSM) by giving more accuracy in detecting similarity even under distortion and more confidence in recognising human faces images under various conditions of facial expression and pose.

مختصر البحثImage similarity or image distortion assessment is the underlying technology in many computer vision applications, and is the root of many algorithms used in image processing. Many similarity measures have been proposed with the aim of achieving a high level of accuracy, and each of these measures has its strength as well as its weaknesses. In this paper, we present a highly efficient hybrid measure for image similarity that is based on structural and momental measures. We propose a similarity measure called the rational structural-Zernike measure (ZSM), to determine a reliable similarity between any two images including human faces images. This measure combines the best features of two structural measures, the well-known structural similarity index measure (SSIM) and the feature similarity index for image quality assessment (FSIM), with Zernike moments (ZMs), which have proven effective in the extraction of image features. Simulation results show that the proposed measure outperforms the SSIM, FSIM, ZMs and the state-of-art measure Feature-Based Structural Measure (FSM) through its ability to detect similarity even under distortion and to recognise the similarity between images of human faces under various conditions of facial expression and pose.

مختصر البحثImage similarity and image recognition are modern and rapidly growing technologies because of their wide use in the field of digital image processing. It is possible to recognize the face image of a specific person by finding the similarity between the images of the same person face and this is what we will address in detail in this paper. In this paper, we designed two new measures for image similarity and image recognition simultaneously. The proposed measures are based mainly on a combination of information theory and joint histogram. Information theory has a high capability to predict the relationship between image intensity values. The joint histogram is based mainly on selecting a set of local pixel features to construct a multidimensional histogram. The proposed approach incorporates the concepts of entropy and a modified 1D version of the 2D joint histogram of the two images under test. Two entropy measures were considered, Shannon and Renyi, giving a rise to two joint histogram-based, information-theoretic similarity measures: SHS and RSM. The proposed methods have been tested against powerful Zernike-moments approach with Euclidean and Minkowski distance metrics for image recognition and well-known statistical approaches for image similarity such as structural similarity index measure (SSIM), feature similarity index measure (FSIM) and feature-based structural measure (FSM). A comparison with a recent information-theoretic measure (ISSIM) has also been considered.

مختصر البحثFace recognition has become practically applied in many places such as airports, pay money and many other purposes. In this paper, we will address this hot topic by using the principles of information theory in the face recognition. Taneja entropy measure used in this paper and combination it with the joint histogram of two images under test. Two of the most popular face databases used in this paper are FEI and ORL show that the proposed measure outperforms existing measures.
