Abstract

report effect of 100 to 300mg/kg oral methanolic extract of Phoenix dactylifera dates on analgesia and inflammation in 7 groups of male and female Wistar rats. Controls were given normal saline or Mobic. For the pain test, rats were injected intraperitoneally with acetic acid 30 minutes before extract. For the inflammation test, rats were given extract 30 minutes before formalin paw test. Contractions and paw tests were evaluated every 5-20 minutes for 50 minutes. At doses of 200, 250 and 300 mg/kg extract we recorded no clinical signs whereas at 100-150mg/kg we recorded abdominal contractions or hind limb stretches and paw redness up to 30 minutes. Compared with Mobic controls, results suggest >200mg/kg extract may have suppressed pain and inflammation in Wistar rats.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to assess the healing effectiveness of lanoline (also known as wool waxes or wool grease), an oil compound released by skin sebaceous glands for sheep that possesses characteristics against microbial, inflammation, as well as protecting properties for skin. It also has an excellent moisturizing function. The determination of Interleukin-4 and Interleukin-13, it can be determined due to the accumulation of inflammatory cells in the affected area that signal the production of Interleukin-4 and Interleukin-13 in cases of eczema. Both the increase in IL-4 and IL-13, Reduces synthesis of essential structural proteins such as filaggrin and lipid components required for effective skin barrier activities, resulting in increased trans epidermal water loss, which is commonly observed and expected in eczema. The study showed a significant increase in the eczema and glycerine group for 24 hours for both IL-4 and IL-13, where there was a slight decrease in the 24-hour lanolin group compared to the control group as well as between groups.

Abstract

The present study has been designed to evaluate the potent role of healing efficacy of lanolin (which is also called wool wax), is an oily product secreted by the sebaceous glands beneath the skin of sheep which is have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, skin protecting properties, a fortyeight mature albino rats (weighted 250-350 g) were randomly assigned to two groups; control group and eczema group which is induced by 99.9% pure acetone. By squad cotton and put it on shaved skin, after 3 days of acetone application the eczema group were divided randomly into two equal groups each group 16 rats, treat these 32 rats with glycerin and lanolin, after 24h five rats from each group were sacrificed, and remaining rats were treated with glycerin and lanolin for 72h and then sacrificed at the third day, the histopathology there is a lot of histopathological changes occur in tissue section in eczematous skin in comparison with control section; there were obvious thickness and enlargement in the length of outermost layer of skin, also there is fissures and cracks in the epidermal layer due to the dryness of skin and aggregation of inflammatory cells. And as well as keratinization of epithelial layer and changes in skin color, the results indicate there were optimum healing effect of lanolin group in compare with glycerin group after 72h, Showed back the outer most layer of the skin to its normal length, also decrease in inflammatory cells number.

Abstract

The analgesic effects of Tramadol and Xylazine as a preanesthetic in followed by Ketamine in adult dogs. A twelve male was randomly divided in to three groups . first group serves as control group given normal saline, a second 4mg /kg B.W. i.m. of Tramadol and third group 1 mg/kg B.W. i.m. Xylazine premedication, was then administered intramuscular followed by Ketamine anesthesia at dose 5 mg/kg B.w.. The behavioral changes, the duration of surgical anesthesia, and biochemical parameters. Xylazine pretreatment significantly (P<0.05) increased the degree of sedation when compared with the control. The duration of surgical anesthesia was significantly (P<0.05) increased by Tramadol pretreatment when compared with control group. There were no significant (P<0.05) differences in biochemical tests total Protein, Creatinine, Alanine Transaminase ALT and Aspartate Transaminase AST among the groups. This result suggests that intrmuscular Tramadol at 4mg /kg is a useful preanesthetic agent for extending the surgical level of anesthesia in ketamine anesthesia in dogs.

AuthorsSameer H. Abboud, Mohammad Taha Naqi
JournalAL-Qadisiya Medical Journal
Abstract

Background : Platelets play an important role in the process of homeostasis, specifically in atherosclerosis formation when low molecular weight lipoprotein deposit in the wall of blood vessels and plaques formation ,this associated with many inflammatory response one of them is Platelet activation subsequent to the adhesion of platelets to the vascular wall results in the release of mediators that promote platelet aggregation. Aim : Statins as most drugs used for treatment hyperlipidemia have multiple effects including anti inflammatory effects , stabilization of plugs and inhibits platelets activation during atherosclerosis of the blood vessels.Materials and Methods : To evaluate the platelets activation there are many simple parameters can be made like platelets count , platelets distribution width, and mean platelets volume. Platelets parameter considered as marker about platelets activation state. Twenty one males rats were enrolled in our research , divided into three group , each group contain seven rats .First group considered as control group , second group considered was given simvastatin , third group was given atorvastatin. The drug dosing continued for 15 days after that blood was withdrawn to measure platelets count , platelets distribution width, and mean platelets volume. Results : There was no significant differences among control and treatment groups in regard to their effects on platelets count , platelets distribution width, and mean platelets volume (P >0.05). Conclusion : Neither simvastatin nor atorvastatin affect platelets count , platelets distribution width, and mean platelets volume.
