The Incarnation of Anxiety in the Early Poetry of T. S. Eliot

مختصر البحث

Through a careful examination of T.S. Eliot’s early poetry (written between 1910 and 1917), this paper examines whether or not anxiety is necessary or particularly useful for the production of poetry in the contemporary world. Eliot's early poetry expresses his just-discovered conviction that the bourgeoisie's life is not what it seems to be. The subjectivity of experience and the slave labor of material commodities do not, nevertheless, always imply the irreconcilable character of the human spirit. There are, however, faint traces of optimism. The expression of worry in Eliot's poem demonstrates his urgent need to address it both inside himself and in this troubled, war-ravaged period, illuminating his fixation with the social and spiritual deterioration of society.

Carol Ann Duffy's poetry collection "Rapture" investigates deeply the haunting spirit that infuses the realms of love, loss, and human connection. Rather than conjuring conventional ghostly encounters, Duffy skillfully interlaces a pervasive sense of the spectral into her exploration of the complexities of intimate relationships. Throughout the collection, the haunting spirit manifests through the lingering presence of past lovers, the echoes of shared experiences, and the bittersweet nostalgia that lingers in the aftermath of relationships. Duffy's lyrical language and evocative imagery create a haunting atmosphere that resonates with readers, inviting them to contemplate the enduring power of memory and emotional attachment.

Shaw's Man and Superman and the Don Juan Legend

مختصر البحث

As seen from the point of view of the dramatist Bernard Shaw, Don Juan is portrayed in his play Man and Superman as a public figure of a womanizer who has appeared in multiple literary works. Ultimately, it tells the story of Superman in terms of the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. By illuminating the thought of Superman, the author seeks to discover the significance of the myth of Don Juan. This study shows that John Tanner, the play's hero, and Don Juan Tenorio are two characters merged into one character. The two characters represent the idea of Superman from different points of view. Through his permissiveness in his everyday life, John Tanner shows his thoughts about Superman. John Tanner is the embodiment of the Superman idea. He is a modified version of Superman. In the meantime, Don Juan Tenorio has become the spokesperson for the Superman idea. His image of Superman reflects Nietzsche's idealized perception. In the long dialogue during the hell scene, he discusses the idea of Superman. Don Juan Tenorio represents what Superman thinks, whereas John Tanner represents what Superman does.

مختصر البحث

Magical realism is a literary technique that establishes a link between the conventional realm of realism in literature and the inclusion of extraordinary aspects inside a work of art. Magical realism endeavors to imbue a literary composition set in a realistic milieu with fantastical, unusual, and otherworldly qualities. On one side, the symbolic aspect of an artistic creation elucidates the intricacies of quotidian existence. Conversely, it employs the use of magic as a means to enhance the authenticity of reality. Numerous authors employ this literary approach to interrogate the nature of the tangible realm, elucidate the anxieties or aspirations of their characters, and scrutinize the historical context of the realistic domain.

Throughout the preceding quarter of the 18th.c in London there was a notable course in the number of created dramas written by women. In fact, it was the largest showing since women had entered playwriting for the first time over one hundred years before. Getting Into the Act argues that this infusion was intimately connected to developments in theatre management, and particularly to the career of David Garrick. Garrick’s management of the Drury Lane Theatre made it possible for a number of female playwrights to secure a foothold in the profession. But as these women rapidly emerged from contingency status into full-fledged professional membership, their very success began to undermine the prevailing expectations around gender. By 1829, the momentum of this earlier period was broken, and in critical discourse and public memory, these female playwrights had all but disappeared.

In The Paradise Lost, there is a well-known fuzziness between the authority of paganism and biblical tradition. The poem exhorts its audience to believe in the biblical narrative of Creation, but Milton's radical theodicy is unrestrained by conventional theological beliefs. Although Milton's ecclesiastical writings purport to express the ways of God to humanity, the great classic poets have ironically affected and "anxiously" inspired his presentation of them. The poem's representation of the biblical paradigm cannot be separated from the paganism it appears to be edging more and further away from.
