The scientific definition of Wound is the disruption of various characteristics of the anatomical, functional and cellular continuity of a living tissue. Platelet-rich plasma is a natural occurring blood element that contains a vast amount of platelets in a noticeable volume. The sole function of PRP is a protective mechanism which acts as an adhesive material to maintain hemostatic and tissue properties, it also acts as an immediate hemostatic agent in surgical applications being biocompatible, safe, and effective. The sole aim of this study is to investigate the effect of PRP combined with multivitamins on the regeneration process of superficial rat skin.

مختصر البحث

Cyctitis is the medical term of inflammation of bladder, and is a common infection in pregnant women. The painful of bladder infection can become a serious health problem if the infection spread to kidneys. Fosfomycin has good in vitro activity against common uropathogens, such as Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae ,Staphylococcus aureus, and pseudomonas aeruginosa and the susceptibility of uropathogens to fosfomycin has remained relatively stable over time. In this study , we elavaulted the efficacy of fosfomycin trometamol in the inhibition the growth of bactreia isolated from acute cystitis compared to other antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, vancomycin, , gentamycin and amikacin. In conclusion, we indicated that fosfomycin trometamol have highest activity among other antibiotics in growth inhibition of cystitis pathogens.

This study has been conducted on seventy three patient's women suffering from abortion who have been checked Central Laboratory of AlHakeem Hospital in Al-Najaf city from November 2013 to April 2014. Their ages range from (14-44) years old .In addition, (20) healthy adults women, without any history of abortion or inflammatory diseases as control group. Blood samples have been withdrawn from abortion women a volume of 5 milliliters of venous blood, 0.9 milliliters have been anticoagulated with 0.1 milliliters sodium citrate and centrifuged at 3000 r.p.m for 15 minutes. The plasma has been aspirated to another test tube for storage in deep freeze (-20˚C) until analysis for precoagulate V factor, whereas serum sample was obtained from the rest of blo od and stored at -20°C until processing. Serum concentration of anti-HCMV-IgG was measured by means of Enzyme Link Fluorescent Assay technique (ELFA). Serum concentration of procoagulant factor X activator (FXa) and factor V (F5) were measured through ELISA technique. The results have shown a significant relations of (P<0.0001) among anti-HCMV IgG antibody in the groups of patients women suffering from abortion compared to those of the healthy Control Group. HCMV-IgG is correlated positively with factor V (F5) (p< 0.0001), while CMV-IgG has shown a negative correlation with factor Xa (FXa) (P< 0.0001). It has been concluded that the serum level of anti HCMV-IgG antibody plays a major role in the diagnosis of patient with HCMV-aborted women also the changes in level of both factor V and factor Xa plays a major role in cases of abortion

مختصر البحث

Abstract Bacterial Meningitis is characterised as a severe and purulent infection that occurs in the subarachnoid area. This condition is linked to an inflammatory response in the central nervous system. Nessieria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli are the most prevalent causative agents of bacterial meningitis worldwide. Objectives: To identify bacterial aetiology agents involved in meningitis and to evaluate antibiotic resistance patterns of isolates from cerebrospinal fluids [CSF] of patients in major hospitals in Najaf, Iraq. Methods: From September 2021 to March 2022, a cross-sectional study was carried out on meningitis patients in government hospitals in Najaf. One hundred fifty-seven samples of cerebrospinal fluid [CSF] were taken and sent to a lab for microbiological analysis. Bacterial isolates were identified, and determine patterns of antibiotic resistance. Results: We found 14% [22/157] confirmed cases of bacterial meningitis among the population of Najaf, Iraq. 12 [54.5%] of the 22 CSF bacteria isolates that were culture-positive were Gram-positive, while 10 [45.5%] were Gram-negative.The identified culture positive bacteria isolate comprised Streptococcus pneumoniae [27%], Escherichia coli [23%], Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae [13.5%], Neisseria meningitidis [9%], and Streptococcus agalactia and Staphylococcus epidermidis [4.5%] for each. A high percentage of children patients [45.5%] was identified compared to neonates 7 [32%] and adults [22.7%]. All Gram-positive of culture-positive CSF isolates were ampicillin-resistant. However, they exhibited a higher rate of resistance to chloramphenicol, tetracycline, and ceftriaxone and a moderate rate of resistance to gentamycin and ciprofloxacin. Imipenem and meropenem were 100% effective against CSF bacterial meningitis isolates. Conclusions: This study shows a low prevalence of bacteria causing meningitis in Najaf hospitals. S. pneumoniae, E.coli, and S. aureus were the record common etiological agents that cause bacterial meningitis. Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens were sensitive to carbapenems [imipenem and/or meropenem].

Abstract Vaccines regarded as one of the most successful medical interventions to date, some mi-croorganisms are capable to acting as immunomodulation agents one of them Pseudomonas aeruginosa produce secondary metabolite. Azurin a bacterial protein has antimicrobial and immunomodulatory ac-tivity, therefore this study aim to detect the ability of Azurin as immunomodulatory agents to modulate innate and adaptive cellular immunity. P. aeruginosa isolated from burn, urinary tract infection patients, identify dependent on morphology and biochemical test then the presence of azu gene is confirmed by PCR amplification, extraction and purification of Azurin by ultra-filtration and detection protein by SDS-BAGE. The results revealed that out of 100 clinical sample only 28 isolates were P. aeruginosa and all isolate have azu gene with amplicon product 476 bp. On a 15% SDS-PAGE, the isolated protein was identified as a 14 kD band. Azurin's median inhibitory concentration IC50 was determined using the MTT technique, the result was 200.83 µg/mL against lymphocytes. Determination the immunomodulato-ry activity of Azurin by evaluated CD4 and CD56 gene expression using RT-PCR technique in peripheral blood lymphocyte cells PBlCs that treated as four groups: un treated (control), treated with Azurin 200 µg/mL, treated with Chitosan 0.5 µg/mL, finally treated with combination Azurin and Chitosan 200+0.5 µg/mL groups. The results observed that Azurin recorded high significance increased in CD4 expression in comparison to untreated lymphocytes, while the results of CD56 revealed that Chitosan was increased then Azurin as well as downregulation in expression of combination group for CD4 and CD56.

Abstract Introduction: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a significant social and public health issue because the medications used to treat it can only manage the symptoms and halt the progression of the disease, not totally cure it. The purpose of this study is to determine the association between the blood level of IL-12 and SLE, as well as its consequences, such as lupus nephritis (LN), and its active or dormant condition, in Iraqi patients. Method: The study enrolled 90 SLE patients from AL-Sadar teaching hospital, with 66(73.3%) developing lupus nephritis (LN) and 24(26.7%) without LN. Additionally, there were 60 (90.9%) and 6 (9.1) active patients. Only 48 of 90 individuals tested positive for HBsAg, whereas 42(46.6%) tested positive for HBV. Each participant donated 5 ml of blood for anti-dsDNA and IL-12 testing. Results: In SLE patients with LN, IL-12 serum levels were considerably higher than in those without LN(p = 0.05). Different levels of IL-12 were found in the LN groups. Serum IL-12 concentrations were considerably lower in patients with HBV-associated SLE (3.41±0.85 pg/ml), non-HBV-associated SLE (2.05±0.66 pg/ml), and healthy controls (0.53±0.28 pg/ ml). WBC count, ESR, anti-ds antibody, and ANA levels were all elevated in lupus patients and in the active groups. Conclusion: Our research established that SLE patients have elevated IL-12 levels. IL-12 levels were significantly greater in SLE with LN as compared to SLE without LN, and they differed significantly between lupus nephritis classes II, IV, and V. Finally, significant differences in IL-12 levels were seen between HBV and non-HBV SLE patients.

Abstract Background: One of the most significant threats to global public health and development is antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is directly associated with the issue of AMR and is a major cause of both chronic lifelong diseases and life-threatening acute infections. In Iraq, the rising prevalence of carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa poses a substantial threat to public health. Objectives: This study aimed to compare and evaluate the results of drug sensitivity testing for P. aeruginosa isolates from different clinical samples. Methodology: Different samples were collected from clinical cases attending Al-Sadder Medical City Hospital, Iraq, these were wounds, otitis media, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and vaginitis. P. aeruginosa was isolated and identified by the routine bacteriological methods and validated by using the VITEK® 2 system. The antibiotic sensitivity of the isolates was determined by AST techniques. Result: One hundred P. aeruginosa strains were identified. The results indicated that the majority of P. aeruginosa showed high resistance to Amoxicillin + Clavulanic acid (AMC), In contrast, there was significantly less resistance to (IPM) Imipenem. Conclusion: Imipenem (IPM) and (MEM) Meropenem were the promising antimicrobial agents used to treat the P. aeruginosa infections. © 2025, Egyptian Society for Medical Microbiology (ESMM).
