Some novel findings were found. First, decreased lymphocytes % at baseline showed significant independent association with adverse in-hospital outcome, including degree of lung injury, receiving mechanical ventilation and in-hospital death. However no significant independent association was observed between decreased lymphocytes % and post-recovery persistent symptoms.
COVID-19 pneumonia patients with hypertension were likely to have adverse in-hospital outcomes compared to COVID-19 pneumonia patients without hypertension. ARBs and ACEIs showed no significant association with adverse in-hospital outcomes. Old age, low lymphocyte percentage and high neutrophil percentage on admission were independent predictors for increased risk of in-hospital mortality and morbidity among COVID-19 pneumonia patients with hypertension.
Conclusion Pericardial fat volume, but not BMI, showed a significant independent association with advanced coronary atherosclerosis in young male patients. Pericardial fat volume and BMI showed a significant independent association with the noncalcified plaque in young female patients. These findings suggest that PFV is significantly associated with advanced but stable and late phase of coronary atherosclerosis in young males with suspected CAD. While in young females, PFV was associated with the early phase of atherosclerosis which is vulnerable for acute coronary events.
Metformin and DPP-4 inhibitors use were associated with favorable in-hospital outcomes, while insulin use was associated with extensive lung injury and post-acute COVID-19 pneumonia partial recovery.
