AbstractThis research is centered on the manufacturing of a gas furnace using locally sourced materials. The
manufacturing philosophy is to eliminate the use of heating elements requiring electric power which is poorly supplied in the country. Design drawings were produced and galvanized sheet steel was used for the fabrication of the furnace, while the other components needed for the design were selected based on functionality, durability, cost and local availability. The
furnace was assembled by lining the inner wall of the casing. Experimental tests have been performed to evaluate the performance of the furnace. It was observed that the furnace has a fast heating rate nearly 25C°/min and less gas consumption rate to attain temperature in the burning zone could be as high as 1000 C° in the burning chamber and 700 C°
in the inner pot. It was also observed that the furnace has good heat retaining capacity; can be easily maintained and safe for use. A melting gas furnace can be used to melt down metals like tin, lead, brass, copper and aluminum.

AbstractThe cement industry is one of the essential industries in Iraq that has taken a wide range of attention in many applied fields, but this industry faces some technical and engineering problems. One of these problems may cause consumption sliding bearing used in the kiln rotary of the Kufa cement plant. In this study, the effect of Antimony as an alloying element on the wear resistance behavior of tin bronze alloys produced by die and sand mold casting technique was investigated. The alloying element (Sb) was added with a percentage of 3, 5, and 8 wt.%. Wear tests were carried out using pin-on-disc. In the wear test, the applied load and rotating speed were selected to be 10, 20, 30 N, and 250 rpm, respectively. The prepared alloys have been characterized using the SEM and XRD techniques. It was concluded that the loss of CuSn 12 alloy produced by the die mold casting technique was lower due to its higher

AbstractIn this study, the bioactivity of CaSiO3 and Porecalin-CaSiO3 composites have been investigated utilizing X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). CaSiO3 and P-CaSiO3 are prepared by Sol-Gel method for different weight percentages of CaSiO3 (P90CS10, P80CS20 and P70CS30 wt. %). The in vitro bioactive properties have been carried out by immersed the powder and sintered samples on different compositions in simulated body fluids at 32 day to evaluate their bioactivity. Ca/P ratio have been calculated through EDS measurements. Structural characterization revealed the amorphous phase of CaSiO3 when heated at 700 °C and phase transition to the crystalline phase when heated at 950 °C, where pseudowollastonite (α-CaSiO3) and Ca2(SiO4) phases have been appeared. CaSiO3 showed better bioactive ability in comparison with its composites. In general, the bioactivity increases with increasing the CaSiO3 time of immersion in stimulated body fluid (SBF). The closest value to the stoichiometric hydroxyapatite, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 has been observed with P70CS30 sintered specimen where Ca/P was 1.694.

Abstract In this study the hardness and wear resistance behaviour of tin bronze alloys produced by die and sand mould casting were investigated. The alloying element (Sb) was added with percentage of (3,5 and 8) wt. % to tin bronze alloys. The wear tests were performed using a pin on disc. The applied load was (10, 20, 30) N, rotational speed was constant equal to 250 rpm and the time (5,10,15) minute. Results were evaluated using losses in weight. Every worn surface was tested by SEM and the wear properties of bronze materials are discussed. It was concluded that CuSn12 material produced by die mold casting technique had higher hardness than the material produced by sand mold casting technique, due to rapid cooling, also after the wear test, wear loss of CuSn12 alloy produced by die mould casting technique was lower due to its higher hardness. In addition to the hardness for tin bronze + 8 wt% Sn increased by 24.8 % for sand casting and 26.7 % for die casting. The results of scanning electron microscopy of worn surface were characterized by wear grooves run parallel to the sliding direction, removes the particles, smearing of Sn phase and plastic deformation. In addition to increasing in the rate of antimony an improvement in the in the wear track, where the rate of deformation and cracks decreases, especially when increasing Sb up to 8%.

AbstractFSSW is a solid state joining method gained its significance as an alternate welding technique in the in electrical, electronic and automobile industries that used FSW welding. FSSW can be used to welding dissimilar joints of material with variation in metallurgical and mechanical characteristics. In this paper, dissimilar welding joints of aluminum alloys (5052) and pure copper (10100) with a thickness of 1.67 mm were welded by FSSW. The variation of rotational speed, dwell time and filler content have been used. The welding joints has been examined by tensile shear test. The scanning electron microscope SEM and X-ray diffraction are used to investigate the hook and intermixing layer characteristics. It was found the best welding condition is (1400 rpm) and (30 sec) which the joint is possess the tensile shear force (3340 N). Adding ZnO filler led to increase the thickness of the copper hook, and expanding the stir zone (weld width bond). Joints with V2-ZnO have highest thickness of intermixing layer (IM), length of weld width bond and best tensile shear force (4300 N).

AbstractThe Y-TZP has been used in dentistry such as crowns, fixed partial dentures, implants, abutments, and brackets. This paper studied effect cutting speed of bur on fracture surface, roughness and morphology of crowns made of different brands of’yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (3-5 mol% Y)" by" computer aided design and manufacturing techniques. The results SEM of the surface morphology for each brands reveals milling traces and scratching induced by the milling tool also crack and microchips and pores appeared on the surface machining due to densification process. The SEM of the fracture surface morphology revealed the presence plastic deformation, microchip, twist hackle and defects refers to the direction of crack propagation. The results of fracture resistance for crown shows the fracture force at high cutting speed cutting speed was lower than from low cutting speed Finally, the tool life was found increase with increasing cutting speed.
