Abstract

With the development of modern architecture in buildings, the introduction of thermal engineering has become very widespread, as studies are focused on increasing the utilization of the natural thermal source.Which is the sun, as renewable energy sources have become widely used and benefited from. But solar radiation can be used only from daylight hours, as it is necessary to put it enables us to use the sun’s heat in the night hours. So, phase-changing materials are used that help retain heat by converting its phase from solid to liquid.Where it is solid during daylight hours and after gaining sunlight, it turns into a liquid phase and when the sun sets, it expels that heat in order to return to the solid phase. Where in this research paper, the placement of phase-changing materials inside the wall to maintain room Temp.s during the night was studied. The results show that the greater the thickness of the concrete material, the greater the storage of heat-phase-changing materials after sunset. Therefore, the greater the thickness of the gypsum material, the greater the storage of the gypsum material for heat transmitted from the materials of variable length. And that the best case simulated as results are concrete thickness of 100 mm and thickness of gypsum 15 mm.

Abstract

The boiling process is one of the important physical phenomena that is based mainly on the phase transformation of matter. As the importance of boiling has become great with the development of scientific physics in the present time due to the large number of its uses and benefit from it in physical processes. Where it became necessary to study and improve boiling in fluids and use nanomaterials to improve this boiling. Where in our research, the boiling of water at a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius was studied with the use of nanomaterials (CuO, Al2O3) and in different concentrations to understand their effect on the boiling process. With the addition of different shapes of fins that help to increase the surface area to add heat. Three shapes of rectangular, circle and triangle fins are used, which are the main shapes of the fins. The results show that with the increase in the concentrations of nanomaterials, the boiling process increases velocity of vapor and affects pressure and velocity of flow. The best shapes that give more area for the temperature and thus increase the boiling process and velocity compared to other cases that have been verified.

Numerical and experimental investigation of two phase flow geometrical characteristics

AuthorsHyder M. Abdul Hussein, Sabah T. Ahmed and Laith Jaafer Habeeb
JournalPublished by De Gruyter
Abstract

This paper presents an experimental and numerical analysis of the effect of the geometric parameter on the two-phase flow (white kerosene-water) flow pattern system. The investigation was carried out using three lengths (1, 2 and 3) m of rectangular horizontal smooth channel and three channel heights of (5, 7.5 and 10) cm respectively. The flow conditions for the input water velocity (0.2 m/s) and the input kerosene velocity (0.1 m/s) for both measurements have been investigated. Two-inlet techniques have been employed. Firstly, at the inlet, the kerosene was on top of the bath. Then, second, from the center, the kerosene inlets (water is above and below the kerosene). A numerical verification analysis was introduced using the ANSYS software using the method of volume of fluid (VOF) and mixture multiphase flow modeling coupled with the normal k-ε turbulence schemes. A collection of seven methods of CFD types is explored by running 224 instances. Comparisons were made between numerical and experimental works.

Abstract

This paper presents a review of experimental investigations, the analytical formulations, and numerical models of (gas-liquid), (gas-solid), (liquid-solid), and (liquid-liquid). Two groups of studies turbulator and smooth in conventional passages tubes, pipe, and channels conduit are reviewed. Different aspects such as flow pattern, pressure drop, maps, void fraction, and estimates of the kinetic energy and momentum are of interest. The need to systematize the huge amount of manuscript published on the multiphase flow and to understand the limitations of the techniques employed constitutes the motivation for this review. Predicting flow pattern and transient flow conditions is developed at experiment (photographs, visual observation, image processing, parallel wire conductance sensor and Particle Image Velocimetry visualization, Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence, Simultaneous two-line laser-based, high speed video-camera, Conductivity needle Probe, and Gamma Densitometer) were used. In two-phase flows, the utmost decisive parameter is the pressure gradient over the flow. Practically, the major thing for effective processes is a delicate prognostication for the gradient of pressure over the flow of two-phase. An experimental study was generally obtained using pressure transducer, and multi-tube manometer. Essentially, different kinds of patterns exist in order to identify as a drift-flux pattern, homogeneous no-slip flow pattern as well as separated pattern. The numerical solution has been steady state transitions to the unsteady state cases, which used code or commercial CFD software.

Numerical Simulation of Cold Air Distribution in the Room with Different Supply Patterns

AuthorsHyder M. Abdul Hussein
JournalInternational Journal of Computer Applications
Abstract

Abstract In this paper three-dimension turbulent buoyant cases of heat transfer and air flow has been presented for enclosed cooling space. Experimental study is carried out to validate the numerical simulations, and the predictions are performed by means of the Realizable k-? and SST k-? models by performing simulations on FLUENT 6. 3. 26. Comparisons between the predictive results and the experimental data reveal that both of the tested turbulence models are capable of capturing the main qualitative flow features satisfactorily. The airflow in a room ventilated by displacement diffuser, slot diffuser, square diffuser, and grille diffuser is calculated by the simplified system, respectively. Comparing calculated results to measured data, it is clear that the simplified methodology can predict indoor airflow and temperature gradient with satisfactory results for engineering applications.

JournalInternational Journal of Engineering & Technology IJET-IJENS Vol:13 No:04
Abstract

Abstract: In this study, the theoretical analysis was conducted the three-dimensional turbulent recirculating for air distribution within enclosed cooling space. A modified version of a three-dimensional computer program (fluent 6.3.26) was to simulate the complex flow inside the room by using the Realizable k-e and SST k-? models. The study depended on design conditions for Iraq and relying on the Iraqi Code of cooling. The results of numerical model were validate with experimental predications of previous researchers. The airflow in a room ventilated by displacement diffuser, slot diffuser, square diffuser, and grille diffuser is calculated by the simplified system, respectively. Comparing calculated results to measured data and these comparisons show a good agreement, it is clear that the simplified methodology can predict indoor airflow and temperature gradient with satisfactory results for engineering applications
