Electrochemical Determination of Testosterone in Bulk and Pharmaceutical Formulations by Cyclic Voltammetry
Abstract Although testosterone (TST) has advantages in some situations, it can also be harmful to the environment and human health. This study uses cyclic voltammetry to examine the electrochemical properties of testosterone. Under ideal circumstances, the electrode's capacity to detect TST was assessed: temperature of 40 °C, an electrical scan rate of 50 mV.s", a pH of 12.679, and a temperature of 40 °C, while also considering potential interferences. The results revealed a linear calibration curve for testosterone within the concentration range of 3.467x105 - 3.467x10*M. The detection limit (LOD) was determined to be 4.137x10-SM, and the quantification limit (LOQ) was 1.235×10*M. Thermodynamic parameters were also calculated, with the enthalpy (4H) found to be 2.586 kJ-mol'' and the entropy (4S) - 262.22 J •K-'mol'' and (4G) 105.025 kJ-mol"'. At 0.019 cm?, the electrode surface area was measured. High precision was shown by the bulk and from relative standard deviations (RSD%) being less than 2%. The voltammogram indicated an irreversible, diffusion-controlled process. The practical value of this approach was demonstrated by its successful quantification of testosterone in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations.
