Date2020-08-01
Abstract

This research has studied the effect of the vertical load, it has acted at the center of the raft foundation and piled raft foundation. Stresses resistance and displacements were significant parts to examine the behavior of improving foundation. These are important parts of life the structure. The study focuses on different cases of the embedded layer in tension zone with concrete grade B20 of (MD/XMD) Tensor SS2 geogrids in raft and piled raft foundation for a tall building in Incheon Tower in South Korea, it was treated to solve those problems. Stresses resistance of raft and piled raft foundation were greater than vertical stress applied of dead and live loads, also the stress value of XMD was greater than the value of MD

Parametric study of reduced web section of beam to column welded connection with castellated beam having hexagonal openings and subjected to cyclic loading

Abstract

In this paper, a finite element (FE) analysis is carried out on a beam to column welded connections with multiple hexagonal web openings. The openings are distributed along the length of the beam which is subjected to cyclic loading protocol proposed by the SAC and FEMA 350 (2000). This study focuses on the interaction of the connections from columns to the perforated beam and mobilization of stresses. Two parameters were addressed: the distance from the face of the column (S), and the web opening spacing (So) including closely spaced opening. The study revealed that the design of mostly controlled reduced web section (RWS) connections should be fundamentally based on the distance of the first opening from the face of the column. Three values of the distance (S) are presented (200 mm, 350mm, and 520 mm). A model with an ideal distance (S) of 350 mm has resulted in an ultimate rotation of 0.039649 rad, which is less than other models, in which rotations were 0.049386 rad and 0.050000 rad, respectively.

Abstract

This paper presents a finite element analysis to investigate the behavior of the piled raft-tunnel system in rock and sand soil. Abaqus CAE finite element program is used to modeled and analyze the piled raft-tunnel system. Safety is a sign that it is focused on the service life of a traffic tunnel. It has affected the stresses and displacements of piled rafts of tall buildings. It has been analyzed with the sandy soil model, intact rock model, and debris rock model. The model conducted of the group (1×2) piled rafttunnel, the clearance distance (H) is 130 mm from the pile tip to the top of the surface of the tunnel and the pile length (L) is 200 mm. A square cross-section of the tunnel is (100 × 100) mm acted on along the z-axis of model direction and it has a thickness of 2 mm. The vertical distance of the pile group base is 5 mm. Sandy soil model effected with a small value of stress 0.01809 MPa and high value of displacement 0.03844 mm otherwise in intact rock model and debris rock model gained the larger value of stresses and little value of displacements.
