Abstract Experimental and theoretical studies of the force convection heat transfer throughout a rectangular channel have been obtained. Rectangular rib surfaces inserted to improve the heat transfer amount from the heated plate to the working fluid with inlet velocity that achieves Reynolds numbers between the 500 and 2000 to cover a large range of laminar flow. Different parameters of the rectangular ribs (number of continuous ribs, number of discrete of rib, row arrangement) have been explored. In experimental work, the channel length to hydraulic diameter (L/Dh) is 3, an aspect ratio W/H of 2, roughness pitch p/e of 10, roughness height e/Dh of 0.06, and the attack angle of 900. Nusselt numbers and the friction factor parameters compared with the corresponding values of the smooth channel at similar condition. The local heat coefficients and local hydrodynamic parameters have been obtained using the commercial ANSYS CFX 14.0 package. Numerical analysis extended to calculate the Nusselt number at 6.66≤p/e≤15, 0.064≤e/H≤0.096, 0.048≤e/Dh≤0.072. Comparisons of the heat results, the pressure drop and the thermal performance via earlier results have been collected. Its observed that Nusselt number increases with Reynolds number and with use the rib surface for all models. The maximum enhancement in Nusselt number ratio observed to be 2.17 times the value of smooth channel for model 7 and friction factor is observed to be 2.18 for model 3. The overall enhancement ratio was 1.68-1.736 at Reynolds number about 1500 and its value declare slightly as the friction factor increases at the range near the transition regime. The best type of models was number 7. Heat transfer enhanced by rising the roughness height at fixed relative roughness pitch or by reducing the roughness pitch at fixed roughness height. Roughness pitch p/e could be augmented up to 10, further that there is a reduce in the heat transfer enhancement. The results compared with previous works and give good agreements
Abstract. Agriculture and poultry are the backbones of any country’s economy indeed; there is a strong correlation between agricultural growth and economic prosperity. In fact, from last few years, the chicken production had increased as standardized farming managing and best industrial practices. Backing to agricultural produce survey, chicken is the best favorite food, as it provides low cholesterol, low fat, rich protein, and low energy compared with another type of poultries. This paper highlighted the smart control system (intelligent farm) with their types such as Zigbee, Raspberry Pi, and the integration of wireless sensors and GPRS. These types have been designed in order to control automatically monitor environment limitations in a poultry farm. Finally, the previous techniques and strategies for smart control system have been compared in a table with their drawbacks.
This article dealt with an important heat transfer field, which is passive heat transfer technique represented by corrugated tube. The study conducted numerically by ANSYS Fluent 14. The motivation behind the current study was to clarify the characteristics and merits of such tube geometry in terms of heat transfer and pressure drop. The obtained results reported under constant heat flux, temperature-dependent thermo-physical properties and Reynolds number range of 300-1500. Results show good heat transfer enhancement of 6.15-33.24% in spite of an increase in friction factor of 1.80-2.93 times the smooth values. The corrugated tube with φ =4.76×10-2 has the top thermal 1.16-1.25 for all Reynolds number. The most important finding is that the gained heat transfer is much more than the increase in pressure loss until a certain threshold of Reynolds number about 900, later, the pressure loss increase and dominates over the heat gained. The effect of Prandtl number on the heat transfer for three types of fluids produced too. A criterion correlation equation of Nusselt number developed to describe the cases of four starts spirally corrugated tubes by deviation ±3% compared with the simulation results.
Suspends Cu nanoparticles size in base fluids were adjusted for a formation of nanofluid using the ultrasonic homogenizing. A KD2 PRO was calibrated to measure the thermal conductivities while the dynamic viscosity with measured using the rotating viscometer. Thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity affects by the other parameters such as volume fractions, base fluids type and the base fluids temperature, which applied an input to the Artificial Neural Network for modeling the nanofluids mathematical expressions and Thermophysical features. The equations of the properties later used in calculating the improvement in heat transfer by ANSYS FLUENT 16.1 to model a fluid flow through the pipe heated by uniform heat flux for laminar Reynolds number 250-2000. Results showed that the temperature and the volume fractions of the nanoparticles had great influences on the thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity. Thermal conductivities ratio and Nusselt number for Cu-Water nanofluid were depicted with several correlations for previous works. The effect of the nanoparticles diameter on the thermal conductivity ratio was concluded and decided that the ratio of thermal conductivity decreased with rising of nanoparticles diameter. Therefore, the effect of volume fraction within small particle sizes approximately nil. Results reveal good enhancement in thermal transfers that deceases with increase the diameter of nanoparticles. Maximum heat transfer enhancement was obtaining at 1% Cu nanofluid.
Considerable attention has been given to flows passing over bluff bodies such as cylinders. This is due to their importance in applications such as heat exchanger, cooling towers and electronic circuit cooling. It has been proved that flow performance and heat transfer could be improved remarkably if the cylinders rotate and flow stabilizers/blockers are used to increase residence time and Nusselt number. This is due to the effect of the vortical structures in the wake region on the drag and heat transfer coefficients. Therefore, forced convection heat transfer across stationary and rotating horizontal cylinder dissipating uniform heat flux was investigated numerically and experimentally in this work. The maximum values of rotational and crossflow Reynolds numbers attained were 960 and 160, respectively. The non-dimensional rotational velocity (α) was varied from 0 to 6. Finite volume numerical simulations using ANSYS were performed. Average temperatures of the cylinder surface were measured by using a thermal camera and the flow profile was captured by High Speed Photography and LDV, offering new experimental results for correlation purposes. Results show that the maximum average heat transfer rate occurs at the same Reynolds number whilst the minimum value occurs at the higher rotational Reynolds number. At higher rotational Reynolds numbers the Nusselt number is nearly independent of Reynolds number and thermal boundary conditions. Comparison with previous numerical studies showed good agreement.
