مختصر البحث

Recently topical use of 2% Ketoconazole solution has been reported to have a therapeutic effect on androgenic alopecia. Minoxidil is a vasodilatory medication used primarily as antihypertensive drug. It was discovered to have the side effect of hair growth and reversing baldness. Tretinoin is commonly used topically for acne treatment and in the treatment of photoaging. It is used by some as hair loss treatment. Objective. To compare the stimulatory effect of Ketoconazole, Minoxidil, and Minoxidil with Tretinoin on hair growth in a mouse model. Materials and Methods. Coat hairs on the dorsal skin of seven weeks old male mice were gently clipped and then stained by using commercial dye. These mice were divided into four groups each of five treated with topical application of ethanol 95%, Ketoconazole solution 2%, Minoxidil solution 5%, and Minoxidil with Tretinoin solution 0.1%, respectively. The drugs were applied once daily for three weeks, the clipped area was photographed, and the ratio of regrown coat area was calculated. Results. The results demonstrated that Ketoconazole, Minoxidil, and Minoxidil with Tretinoin had a significant stimulatory effect on hair growth compared with the control group and Minoxidil was the most effective drug among them.

The study was done between June 2012 and August 2012 where 180 specimens were obtained from operation rooms in AL-Manathera general hospital which have been divided into 90 specimens from air and 90 specimens from floor ,Isolation and Identification of the microorganisms and their Antibiotics sensitivity pattern were done and following results were obtained Staphylococcus aureus was the most common microorganisms isolated 29 then Pseudomonas aeruginosa 7 and E.Coli three specimen only, The Antibiotics sensitivity pattern showed that Cefatoxime, Cephalothin and Rifampcin were more active against gram positive and gram negative bacteria while the strains were resistant to Oxacillin ,Amoxycillin ,PencillinG, Tetracyclin ,Ampicillin, Lincomycin, Chloramphenicol, Carbenicillin, Cloxacillin, Erthromycin.

مختصر البحث

The present study was carried out from January to June 2011 in Al-Manathera General Hospital in Al-Manathera City, Iraq. The study aimed at comparing between bacteriological etiologic agents of otitis media and urinary tract infection (UTI). The study revealed that, from the 130 specimens from outpatients (65 ear swab from patients infected with otitis media and 65 urine specimens from patients infected with UTI), there were 60 bacterial isolates from patients infected with otitis media (36 males, 60 %, and 24 females, 40 %) with five no-growth specimens. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the most prevalent bacteriological etiologic agent of otitis media (25 isolates, 41.666 %), while from the 65 urine specimens from patients suffering from UTI, there were 65 bacterial isolates (24 males, 36.923 %, and 41 females, 63.077 %). Klebsiella pneumoniae was the most prevalent etiologic agent of UTI (27 isolates, 41.53 %). Nitrofurantoin was active against all the otitis bacterial isolates and the UTI isolates, while Ampicillin and Penicillin were not active against most of bacterial isolates.

Background: Otitis Media (OM) is an inflammation of the middle ear drum and the inner ear, including a duct known as the eustachian tube. Otitis media is very common in children. Over 60 percent of the cases of otitis media are caused by bacteria. Urinary tract infection(UTI) refer to the presence of microbial pathogens within the urinary tract. A urinary tract infection is a condition where one or more structures in the urinary tract becomes infected after bacteria overcome its strong natural defenses. In spite of these defenses, urinary tract infections are the most common of all infections and can occur at any time in the life of an individual. Almost 95% of cases of UTIs are caused by bacteria that typically multiply at the opening of the urethra and travel up to the bladder. *Kufa University College of Science -Department of Biology Kufa university-College of Medicine QMJ VOL.8 No.13 157 2012 Escherichia coli, K. pneumoniae and Proteus mirabilis are the bacteria most commonly cause UTI, followed by other gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. A number of studies have reported on the prevalence of otitis media and urinary tract infection. However, majority of these studies have focused on clinical diagnosis with little or no report on the bacteriological etiology of otitis media and urinary tract infection so this study aimed to isolate, characterize and identify the bacteriological etiologic agents of otitis media and urinary tract and to select the best antibiotic for the treatment of such infections. Objective: The study aimed to identify the aerobic pathogenic bacteria cause otitis media and urinary tract infection and to compare between pencillins, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, refampicin, cefotaxim, trimethoprime, and nitrofurantoin effects on this bacteria.
