Objectives: This study was aimed to explore the preference of using ceramic crown or zirconia by the Iraqi dentists in Al-Najaf City. Materials and Method: A questionnaire was developed to acquire information from the dentists in Al-Najaf City, Iraq, in 2022 (n=350). The questionnaires were given to the dentists in a face-to-face meeting with a hope to collect data on the reasons for using ceramic or zirconia crown with a particular focus on knowledge and attitude of the dentists. Results: Out of 350 visits to the dentists, 316 took part in the study with a response rate of 90%. The percentage of specialist dentists who are using the ceramic crown is 74%, while 81% of the generalized dentists who are using the ceramic. 60% of the generalized dentists preferred the ceramic due to their durability. On the other hand, 44% of the specialized dentists have reported problem associated with using the ceramic due to the unwanted chipping. 69% of the generalized dentists preferred the zirconia because their perfect esthetic result. However, 70% of the specialist dentists inclined towards the zirconia due to the patient attitude. Conclusion: The attitude, and knowledge of Iraqi dentists about preferring ceramic over zirconia are relatively high. This situation indicates that there is a need for motivating the dentists and the patients about using zirconia. Other studies in different places of Iraq should be made to identify the preference among the professional dentists.
