Abstract:
To compare physical properties of two composite materials that differs in their filler size, amount and resin matrix Z250 (microhybrid), Z250XT (nanohybrid). The properties are color stability, surface roughness and water sorption, and to correlate between both characteristics.
The resin composites tested were Z250 (microhybrid) and Z250XT (nanohybrid), and. A total of 36 discs (6mm diameter x 2mm thickness). All specimens were divided into 3 groups (n=12). Each group was then subdivided into 2 equal subgroups according to the type fabricated by using Wax mold, shade A2 was used for every material. Each 6 specimens from each composite type were used for the Color of the specimens was measured with a colorimeter CIE standard illuminant D65 at baseline, after staining. The specimens were immersed in staining solutions green tea, the staining was measured, Each 6 specimens from each composite type were used for the surface roughness measurements, the specimens were examined by Atomic force microscopy device (AFM). The surface roughness was measured, Each 6 specimens from each composite type after their preparation were transferred to a desiccator with silica gel maintained at 37˚C, using calibrated electronic microbalance. The weight measurements were taken from the second day (48 hours) after incubation and continue as one measurement every week for 30 days.
The results were taken and statistical analysis was performed using statistical software followed by ANOVA, To estimate the correlation between both material. For the groups before and after staining .surface roughness, water sorption there was a significant increase in staining, water sorption in Z250XT, with time more than Z250, but non-significant in surface roughness between Z250XT and Z250 , and no correlation between them.
It can be concluded from this study that the Z250 has a positive effect on the staining and water sorption, and no their affection in surface roughness.
