The aim of the research was to study the biomechanical variables of step length between hurdles at
different phases, as well as the variables of (step distance, step time, and step velocity). It also
examined the biomechanical variables of the hurdle step (distance, time, horizontal velocity, and
vertical velocity). Additionally, the study aimed to conduct comparisons between the biomechanical
variables of step length between hurdles and those of the hurdle step in terms of distance.
The research hypothesized that there is a significant correlation between step length and some
biomechanical variables during running between hurdles among Al-Hilla Sports Club athletes in the
110-meter hurdles event. It also assumed the existence of significant differences among the
biomechanical variables related to step length.
The study was conducted on a sample of 110m hurdles runners from Al-Hilla Sports Club. The
experiment took place at Al-Najaf International Athletics Stadium. The researcher addressed several
theoretical topics related to the subject, including biomechanical analysis in sports, biomechanical
analysis of the 110m hurdles event, its technical phases, and step length. A descriptive method was
used, and the research sample consisted of four athletes. A pilot study was conducted on another group
of hurdlers to identify potential shortcomings before implementing the main field experiment.
The results were presented, analyzed, and discussed using specific tables. The researcher concluded
that motion analysis of the 110m hurdles event contributed to accurately identifying the numerical
values of athletes' performance and highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, particularly regarding
time, step length, and step frequency. The findings also indicated no statistically significant differences
in the distance after the hurdle across different hurdles, and no significant differences in the time of the
four phases of hurdle clearance.
