As it becomes clear that there is a spatial variation in the infant mortality rate between one
urban centre and another depending on the population size and the level of economic, social
and health progress; although they are urban centres, their culture is still rural, so we find a
high infant mortality rate in the centres (Al-Mishkhab district centre, Al-Qadisiyah district and
Kufa district centre) Because of the low level of knowledge and culture and awareness of taking
vaccinations and reviewing health care allocated (for pregnant women) and the family’s
ignorance of the seriousness of children’s diseases and undernutrition is one of the causes of
infant mortality, in addition to the lack of centres for care provided to pregnant women
