Aim: The focus of this research was to see how the hormone ghrelin affected reproductive hormones and geneexpression of LH and Fsh hormone in mature male rats.Methods: Seventy male rats were used in the investigation, with twenty serving as controls… Aim: The focus of this research was to see how the hormone ghrelin affected reproductive hormones and geneexpression of LH and Fsh hormone in mature male rats.Methods: Seventy male rats were used in the investigation, with twenty serving as controls and 50 being given asubcateaneous injection (s.c) of freshly manufactured thyroxine from (Sigma Aldrich Co.-USA) at a dose of 500μg/kg dissolved in saline to induce hyperthyroidism. For thirty days, After inducing hyperthyroidism, Thehyperthyroidic rats were divided into four groups at random. each with ten rats: a positive control group, ahyperthyroic group administrated with GRE at dose (0.5nmol/100μl saline), and a hyperthyroidic groupadministrated with administrated at dose (1nmol/100μl saline). The hyperthyroic group received GRE at a doseof 2nmol/100l saline. For thirty days,both the positive and negative control groups were given saline. (10μg/rat)Results: when compared to the control group, the hyperthyroidism group had a significant (P≤0.05) increase inserum (T, FSH, and LH) concentration, whereas when compared to the hyperthyroidism group, allhyperthyroidism groups treated with ghrelin had a significant (P≤0.05) decrease in serum (T, FSH, and LH)concentration. In the hyperthyroidic group, LH mRNA expression was considerably higher (p<0.0001) than inthe control group. When compared to the hyperthyroidic group, LH mRNA expression decreased considerably(p<0.0001) in all hyperthyroidic groups administrated with GRE. When comparing the hyperthyroidic group tothe control group, FSH mRNA expression increased considerably (p<0.0001). FSH mRNA expression, on theother hand, decreased considerably (p<0.0001) in all hyperthyroidic groups administrated with GRE. GRE hasbeen shown to have regulated effects on the reproductive hormones and expression of their related genes in adultmale rats.Conclusion: We discovered that GRE decreases the expression of the LH- and FSH hormones directly, whichcould be attributable to direct effects on the hypothalamusH-P-G. axis. ghrelin can regulator of the testicularfunctions and represents an important additional link between the male reproductive hormones homeostasis andthe reproductive function. The first group consisted of 2… The study's objective is to evaluate the enhanced effect of the ghrelin on the body weight and thyroid hormones in male rats after inducing hyperthyroidism by L-thyroxin. The rats (95 males) were split into two groups. The first group consisted of 25 male rats that were given normal saline for 30 days S.C and set as a control group. While the remainder of the animals were given levothyroxine 500g/kg subcutaneously for 30 days to induce hyperthyroidism. after induction the divided into 4 groups as followe ,the first one was the control group that mentioned previously, the second group was male rats were given normal saline for 30 days S.C, the third group was male rats were given ghrelin at a dose of (0.5nmol/100μl saline) for 30 days S.C, and the fourth group was male rats (1nmol/100μl saline) for 30 days S.C. The fifth group consisted of hyperthyroidism male rats that was given ghrelin at a dosage of (2nmol/100μl saline) for 30 days S.C. The results of final weight and weight gain are presented showed no significant difference in initial weight within all groups that were observed, while a significant decrease in final body weight in hyperthyroidism group compared with control group. On the other hand, the results revealed a significant decrease in body weight gain in male rats have hyperthyroidism compared with the control group. While the results observed a significant increase final body weight and body weight gain in all treated rats with ghrelin as compared with hyperthyroidism group. On other hand, the effect of hyperthyroidism on serum TSH, T3, and T4 concentrations revealed that the hyperthyroidism group had a significant rise in serum T3 and T4 concentrations when compared to the control group. While no significant drop in serum TSH concentration was observed in all hyperthyroidism groups handled with ghrelin (0.5, 1 and 2 nmol) as compared to the hyperthyroidism group, a significant decrease in serum T3 and T4 level was observed in all hyperthyroidism groups treated with ghrelin in comparison to the group of hyperthyroidism. Ghrelin peptide hormone and it has been shown to have potential effects on the body weight and thyroid hormone.

The present study was carried out in the animal house and laboratories of the Collegeof Veterinary Medicine/ University of Basrah to investigate the oral administration ofsilymarin on oxidative stress biomarker, lipid peroxidation and reproductive f… The present study was carried out in the animal house and laboratories of the Collegeof Veterinary Medicine/ University of Basrah to investigate the oral administration ofsilymarin on oxidative stress biomarker, lipid peroxidation and reproductive function inalloxan induced diabetic of albino rats. After the period of acclimation, 32 male rats weredivided into 4 equal groups with 8 animals in each as the following: Control group: Animalsof this group administered distilled water, Silymarin group: administered silymarin(20mg/kg) dissolved in distill water orally by gavages. Alloxan treated (DM) group : weregiven alloxan intraperitoneal injection 150mg/BW, as single dose for induced diabeticmellitus and Alloxan + silmarin treated group : were injection alloxan intraperitonealy andthen after 3 days, oral administered of (20 mg/kg bw ) silymarin . The experimental wascontinued for 45 day. At the end of the experiment, animals of each group were sacrificed,and blood samples were obtained for oxidative stress biomarker, Lipid Peroxidation andhormonal assessment and the caudal epididymis was then separated from the testicles forthe evaluation of epididymal sperm characteristics, while the testes were kept in 10%neutral buffer-formalin for histopathological study. The results showed a significantdecrease (P ≤ 0.05) in serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) , Glutathione Peroxidase (GPX) ,follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone,concentrations of DM group. On the other hand a significant decrease (P ≤ 0.05) inepididymal sperm concentration, individual sperm motility, live sperm percentage and asignificant increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) and sperm abnormalities percentage wererecorded in DM group. Histopathological examination of the testes revealed markedsuppression of spermatogenesis with absence of mature spermatocytes of DM group.Moreover DM groups treated with Silymarine showed normal oxidative biomarkers,hormonal concentration, epididymal sperm characteristics, and normal testicular tissuescompare with control group (PDF) Effect of Silymarin on Oxidative Stress Biomarker, Lipid Peroxidation and Reproductive Function of Diabetic Albino Rats.
