This study was conducted at AL-Najaf AL- ashraf, in the fields of department of animal resource /Agriculture College / Kufa University. From 1/ 3/ to 4/ 4/ 2015. Used 400 beds from broiler/ leghorn spices, Divided to 4 treatments randomly, the treatment divided to 4 replicates, any replicate contain 25 birds. Fed starter diets from one day old to the age of 21 days, contend protein 23%, energy level 3000 Kilocalorie/ kg feed and fed on finisher diets from 22-35 day old, the finisher diet was contended 20% protein and 3213 energy Kilocalorie/ kg feed. Treatments were gave 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 gram from gum of Ferula asafetida for T1, T2, T3, and T4 respectively in drinking water, from 3rd – 5th week old. Results showed a gradual increase in feed consumption with increased concentration of gum solution of Ferula asafetida (G.S.O.F.A) in drinking water. There was a significant effect (P ≤0.05) for T2, T3, and T4 in feed consumption compared with T1 (control). There is a gradual increase in the weight of the birds with increased concentration of (G.S.O.F.A), there was significant effect (P ≤0.05) for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th treatment in weight gain and a cumulative weight gain compared with first treatment. Hb, PCV, RBC count, WBC count, blood cholesterol, Newcastle titer were studied and observed: Use of (G.S.O.F.A) led to increasing in Hb with increasing of (G.S.O.F.A) concentration. Recorded significant effect (P ≤0.05) for T2, T3, andT4 in increasing of blood Hb, PCV and RBC compared with T1. Recorded significant effect (P ≤0.05) for T4 on other treatments (T1, T2, and T3) in Hb, PCV and RBC count characters. No increasing happened in (WBC) count and there is no significant effect between the treatments unless the increasing due to growing and age. The using of Ferula asafetida gum leads to decrease of cholesterol level in the blood, there was significant effect (P ≤0.05) for control treatment on other treatments (T2, T3 and T4) table . The using of ferula asafetida gum in different concentration led to increasing in bird defense against different diseases (birds not effected with any disease during breeding period) especially Newcastle. Recorded significant effect (P ≤0.05) for (T4, T3 and T2) in Newcastle titer combarted with T1. and the T4 excelled on all other treatments in Newcastle titer The aim of this study was increasing of bird's weight and decreasing of breeding period, improving of digestion, general health, blood characters, and immunity
