This study illustrated and examined efficiency of suspended growth fixed-bed bio-reactors combined with a novel acrylic fiber carrier, biofringe (BF) and conventional activated sludge (AS+BF) as well as only conventional activated sludge (AS) for seafood process industries wastewater treatment.
This experimentation involved for operating two suspended growth fixed-bed bio-reactors with 10 L volumetric capacity at room temperature (aver. 25oC) and pH at neutral (7.0 ± 0.5) for treating seafood processing wastewater. Such wastewater was analyzed for COD, BOD5?, total kjehldahl nitrogen (TKN), ammoniacal nitrogen (NH3–N), nitrate (?NO3–N), nitrite (NO2–?N), phosphate (PO4-3), colour, and total suspended solids (TSS).
