AbstractThis case–control study included 82 patients (aged 18–65 years) with clinically and radiologically confirmed bacterial pneumonia admitted to Al-Saahb Hospital, Iraq, between April 2024 and January 2025. A total of 68 healthy individuals without respiratorydisease served as controls. Patients with recent antimicrobial therapy, chronic respiratory illness, autoimmune disorders, pregnancy, or lactation were excluded. Serum IL-8 levels were measured using ELISA according to standardized protocol

AbstractAbstract---This study aimed to evaluate the immunological role of TNF-alpha and interlukine-11 for a sample of women infected with HCMV. 65 blood samples were collected from aborted women and 15 blood samples were collected from healthy non-aborted women (as a control group) during the period from 6 April to 12 June from reviews Al-Zahra teaching hospital and Al-Manathira general hospital in Najaf governorate. HCMV IgM, IgG antibody tests were performed by using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA- Human, Germany). The results showed that the prevalence of IgG and IgM immunoglobulins against HCMV in pregnant women with miscarriages according to the statistical analysis that there is a high significantly difference with a level ≤ P 0.05 in IgG and IgM concentration within different age groups of aborted women compared to the control treatment group of women. The samples under study were also tested to measure the level of TNF-α and IL-11 cytokines by using a quantitative technique the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay as well, the results showed that there that there is a hight significant in the concentration of TNF-α protein in aborted women, which reached 8.24 ± 1.58 (pg/ml)., and this was significant at P ≤ 0.003 compared with the control group 5.51 ± 2.96(pg/ml).while IL-11 showed an increase in the level of its concentration in aborted women reached to 14.25 ± 2.9 (pg/ml), and this was significant at P ≤ 0.05 compared with the control group at 11.25 ± 4.1 (pg/ml) respectively.

Abstract Many efforts have focused on the therapeutic approach of cancer for a long time by studying cytotoxic activities of different compounds including synthetic, semi synthetic and plant constituents. This work involved synthesis of 1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-4-oxo-7-4-2-oxo-2-(4- sulfamoylphenylamino) ethyl piperazin-1-yl)-1,4-dihydroquinoline-3- carboxylic acid compound named as (CSA) prepared by hybridization of sulfanilamide with ciprofloxacin was applied against HCT116 colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line. This study was planned to evaluate cytotoxicity of CSA by thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide (MTT) cytotoxicity test by using HCT116 cell line aiming to introduce an alternative therapeutic compound as compared with standard chemotherapeutic drugs such as doxorubicin (DOX) and 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU), by the assessment of half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50). Results showed that CSA compound was effectively and significantly inhibit HCT116 cells proliferation (p<0.0001) at different

concentrations involved 1, 10, 100, 500 and 1000 μg/ml, with IC50 of 182.4 μg/ml. Values of DOX and 5-FU IC50 were 58.94μg/ml and 36.73μg/ml respectively. We concluded that CSA compound may have anticancer effect against HCT116 colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line, and future in vivo study to confirm this result is strongly recommended.

AbstractVarious assays are used to determine thetoxic effects of drugs at cellular levelsin vitro. One of these methods is the dye exclusion assay, which measures membrane integrity in the presence of Trypan blue. Trypan blue the dye which was used in this study to investigate cytotoxic effect ofa new Cis–dichloroplatinum(II) complex [(Qu)2PtCl2]on the viability of polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs). Three concentrations of platinum complex were prepared (70, 35and 17.5 μg/ ml) and the results revealed that the percentage of cell viability decreased as the platinum complex concentration increased in comparison with control. The platinum complex exhibited low cytotoxic effects towards healthy cells at the concentrations of 17.5 μg/ ml and 35 μg/ ml, in which the percentage of cell viability was (77.01 ± 6.3) and (72.3± 0.50)respectively, with no significant differences as compared with the control(90.66 ±0.577). The viability was significantly decreased (67.59 ± 3.16) when the cells were treated with the concentration of 70 μg/ ml in comparison with control. These results indicated that the percentage of living cells decreased when treated with high concentrations of [(Qu)2PtCl2], which causes cells death, while low concentrations of the compound show low toxicity. This data indicates that this compound, at these concentrations may be suitable for use as a cancer treatment because it has low toxic effects on the healthy cells. Keywords:Cytotoxicity, Pt(II) complex,Trypan blue exclusion assay
AN ASSOCIATION BETWEEN CELIAC DISEASE SPECIFIC AUTOANTIBODY AND INFERTILITY IN MALE: ACROSS SECTIONAL STUDY
AuthorsAzhar Jasim Mohsin, Ali Ibrahim Rahim
JournalAl-Kufa University Journal for Biology
AbstractBackground:The male infertility is considered a health problem ,which attributed to many factors such as genetic ,environmental , previous infections, bad lifestyle and others.these factors have been reported in previous studies. However, this study aimed to determine the effect of anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (IgA-tTG)as celiac disease product on the male infertility
Objective: This study was aimed to find out the incidence of celiac disease-specific antibodies, which is known as IgAanti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (IgA-tTG) in the group of infertile male in Al-Najaf city by across sectional study.

AbstractAbstract: Many suggestions support that cytokines have pathogenesis role of acute myeloid leukemia
(AML) patients and that may be related with disease progression and patient survival. But their
prognostic significance in this disease is unknown. The study aimed to estimate the plasma level of IL-10
before and after treatment in patients with AML. Plasma concentrations of IL-10 were estimated in 26
newly diagnosed patients with AML and follow up 19 of them after treatments, 7 patients were died after
induction, matched 16 individuals' healthy donors. IL-10 levels were estimated using the enzyme‑linked
immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. Patients were divided into two groups: 26 before treatment and
19 after treatment. The results showed that plasma concentrations of IL-10 were significantly higher in
AML patients compared to control group. Moreover, plasma concentrations of IL-10 were significantly
associated with non-responding (NR) AML patient after treatment compare to complete remission (CR).
While it observed non-significantly before treatment. The study demonstrated that AML NR patients have
increased plasma concentrations of IL‑10 after induction, suggesting that this cytokine is involved in the
pathophysiological process of the disease and may be associated with poor prognosis of clinical
outcomes.
