Abstract

Eighty eight subfertile women involved in the study . All of them were subjected to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation during intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycle(ICSI) . Measurement of serum estradiol (E2) level was done at day 2 of their menstrual cycles .Second reading was done at day of HCG injection (where ovum size reach 16-22 mm).Third reading of serum E2 was done at the day of pickup of the ovum (before the pickup ) and at the time of pickup follicular fluid(FF) E2 was also measured. The results show that E2 in blood in day 2 is significantly higher in those with BMI≥25. The result show significant difference in E2 in blood which is higher in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCO) in day2 of cycle and higher in non PCO group in day of HCG. There was significant positive correlation between the level of E2 in blood in day of pickup and in the FF .There reveal highly significant difference in the E2 level in blood in different days. The result show highly significant difference in the E2 level in different days in PCO group. The result show highly significant difference in the E2 level in different days in non PCO group. Correlation between serum E2 in day of pickup and E2 in follicular fluid among PCO group show significant positive correlation between E2 in day of pickup and E2 in FF. Correlation between serum E2 in day of pickup and E2 in FF among non PCO group show significant positive correlation between E2 in day of pickup and E2 in FF.

Abstract

Abstract: Purpose: Studying some Factors Affecting pregnancy outcome in subfertile couples subjected to intracytoplasmic sperm injection. Method: study performed in fertility center in Al-Sadder teaching hospital in Al-Najaf city during the period between October 2012 and April 2013 , the study include 140 subfertile couples that subjected to intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI). Results: the results show some factors that affect pregnancy outcome like women age, cause and type of infertility .The results revealed that the age of women was significantly affect the pregnancy outcome, also the results show that sperm quality more important than sperm count . Recommendations: studying other hormones releated to fertility like leptin Conclusions: Multiple factors affecting ICSI outcome, the most important one is female age The cause of infertility and its type also affect the outcome , also the results show that sperm quality more important than sperm count . Key Word: ICSI: intracytoplasmic sperm injection, Subfertile: infertile

Effect of polycystic ovarian syndrome on hirsutism

AuthorsDr. Yesar MH. Al-Shammaa, Dr.Aseel Jassim Al-Bderi
JournalKufa Med.Journal
Abstract

Study involve 100 women with hirsutism, from these women 65% presented with polycystic ovarian syndrome and 35% presented with normal ovaries. also measurment of testosterone hormone concentration in these women show that testosterone level is higher in women with polycystic ovary but this increment is non significant.

Effect of endometrial thickness on fertility

AuthorsDr. Sami R. Al- Katib , Dr. Yesar MH. Al-Shamma Dr.Aseel Jassim Al-Bderi
JournalKufa Med.Journal
Abstract

The study involve measurement of endometrial thickness of infertile women using transvaginal ultrasound during day 2-5 of menstrual cycle and comparing it to that of fertile women . The results reveal that endometrial thickness is higher in fertile women than infertile women i.e low endometrial thickness is related to infertility.

Uterine and ovarian blood flow in infertile and fertile women :A doppler study.

AuthorsDr. Sami R. Al- Katib, Dr. Basima Sh. Al-Ghazali Dr.Aseel Jassim Al-Bderi
JournalKufa Med.Journal
Abstract

Sixty two women have been recruited in the study , thirty one of them are infertile women whose ages range from 16-39 years , and thirty one are fertile women (regarded as control group) ,their age range from 16-39 years. Both groups are subjected to transvaginal Doppler ultrasound for measurement of blood flow indices : Peak systolic velocity PSV (V1) , Minimal diastolic velocity MDV (V2) and Resistive index (RI) of both ovaries and uterine myometrium and endometrium . This examination is done during the period which extends between day 2-5 of menstrual cycle . Measurement of serum concentration of follicular stimulating hormone FSH , lutenizing hormone LH,estrogen and progesterone is done in the same day of the cycle . The study reveals that there is a significant effect of polycystic ovarian syndrome on ovarian blood flow but not on uterine myometrial blood flow and in general the results show that ovarian blood flow indices V1 and V2 are significantly higher in infertile patient especially those with polycystic ovarian syndrome than in normal fertile women , but no significant effect was there on RI of ovarian blood flow .The results have shown that endometrial blood flow is significantly lower in infertile women with polycystic ovary than in infertile women with non polycystic ovary.
