مختصر البحث

Background: Over the past two decades, antibiotic resistance has increased significantly in Gram-negative bacilli (GNB) and in many cases has been linked with increased mortality and health-care costs. The multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) and Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) and various Enterobacteriaceae including Klebsiella, and Escherichia coli can cause severe and often deadly infections those are frequently reported in the hospitals and clinics. This study aimed to investigate the resistance patterns of GNB commonly encountered in our hospital as well as the outcome of the infection caused by these bacterial agents. Materials and Methods: The samples were processed from a culture and sensitivity test. The isolates were identified primarily by conventional method and then confirmed by Vitek 2 compact system, also antimicrobial sensitivity test was performed using the Vitek 2 compact system. Results: A total of 293 samples were collected from adult patients admitted to AL-Sader Medical City, Najaf, Iraq, from July 1, 2019, to January 7, 2020. The Gram-negative isolates were collected from clinical samples that included urine, wound swab, ear swab, sputum, and pus. Urine specimens accounted for a majority 163 (55.64%) of the clinical samples which yielded GNB, followed by wound swab 75(25.59%), ear swab 29 (9.89%), sputum 22 (7.51%), and pus 4 (1.37%). E. coli was the predominated bacteria 150 (51.19%) followed by P. aeruginosa 59 (20.13%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae 50 (17.06%). The remaining 34 (11.59%) of isolates included Proteus mirabilis 15 (5.11%), A. baumannii 10 (3.41%), and Enterobacter spp. 9 (3.07%). E. coli was leading microorganism isolated from pus 4 (100%) and urine 119 (73.0%); P. aeruginosa was dominant bacteria isolated from ear swab 18 (62.06%) and wound swab 26 (34.66%); and Klebsiella pneumoniae was common microorganism isolated from sputum 9 (40.90%). GNB were showed variable resistant to different types of antibiotics, but E. coli and K. pneumoniae were exhibited high resistance to ceftazidime (CAZ) 119 (58.62%) and 43 (21.18%); cefepime (FEP) 89 (60.13%) and 30 (20.27%); and ceftriaxone (CRO) 74 (62.18%) and 25 (21.00%), respectively. All members of GNB were shown high resistant to CAZ 203 (19.80%), FEP 148 (14.44%), and CRO 119 (11.61%) compared with other types of antibiotics. Out of 293 GNB, 119 (40.61%) isolated were exhibited MDR microorganisms (MDROs). Conclusions: We can conclude from our study that most GNB were isolated from urine samples. E. coli was the predominated bacteria followed by P. aeruginosa. GNB were showed variable resistance to a different type of antibiotics, but all members of GNB were shown high resistance to CAZ 203 (19.80%), FEP 148 (14.44%), and CRO 119 (11

Bacterial infections have been identified as one of the causes of infertility, bacteria can cause immobilization and agglutination of spermatozoa. The aim of research was to detect the bacterial pathogens in seminal fluid culture from infertile men and determine the antibiotic sensitivity pattern in vitro.Seminal fluid samples were collected for culture and antibiotic sensitivity testing and were processed according to the standard techniques of microbiology. A total of 120 seminal fluid samples collected from human males admitted to the infertility centers in Najaf province, 74 (61.66%) of samples revealed positive significant growth of bacteria, while 46(38.33%) samples were with no growth. Eleven species of different bacterial organisms were isolated

مختصر البحث

One hundred clinical urine samples were obtained from patients suffering from UTI during the period from 1, August, 2017 to 9, October, 2017. Methodology: The identification of the E. coli isolates was depended on colonial morphology, microscopic examination and biochemical tests as a primary identification. The final identification was performed by PCR technique with Mdh. In addition antibiotic genes were used such as (bla-CTM, blatem-1, aac (6)-Ib-crandsul-1). Result: Rendering to the results obtained according to the morphological ,cultural and biochemical characters from 100 sample only 80 (80%) isolate was identify as E. coli. According to the results obtained by PCR, Mdh gene that encode was found in 56 (70%) isolates in E. coli. The results of PCR revealed that the percentage of bla-CTX-M gene among tested isolates reached to 30/56(53.57%), 10/56(17.85%) for blaTEM-1, 13/56(23.2%) for aac (6')-Ib-cr and 33/42 (78.57%) for Sul-1gene. Conclusion: The study investigated the antibiotic resistance genes of E. coli which play a major role in pathogen city .

مختصر البحث

Abstrac The effectiveness of currently available antibiotics is decreasing due to increasing number of resistant strains causing infections . Citrus juice has antibacterial effect against some clinical bacterial isolates. pseudomonas aeruginosa and staphylococcus aureus were isolated from wouud infactions , E . coli , klebsiella sp . , Enterobacter sp.and Proteus sp.were isolated from UTI . Four concentrations of juice %25 , %50 , %75 and %100 were tested , all concentrations have activity against most of isolates specially in undiluted concentration. This effect may belong to citric acid which available as organic acid in juice. Antibiotic susceptibity was done with six type of antibiotics , Ceftriaxone (30 mcg) , Ciprofloxacin (5 mcg) ,Cefotaxime (30 mcg) , Rifampin (5 mcg) , Cephalothin (30 mcg) and Amikacin (30 mcg) . All isolates was resistant to Cephalothin whars Ciproflioxacin was most effective .

مختصر البحث

The objective of this study was to examine the extent of bacterial contamination of the most used denominations of the Iraqi currency. A total of (160) isolates (112) were gram positive bacteria and (48) were gram negative bacteria has been isolated from different denominations (250, 1000, 5000, 10000 and 25000 ID) in circulation in AL-Najaf city which collected from different local markets. The results had shown the most predominant bacteria was Bacillus sp. with 41.2% and the small denominations were more contaminated, there where statistically significant association between the source of collection and bacterial type. The antibiotic susceptibility was doing with 7 types of antibiotics disc (Gentamicin, Azithromycin, Trimethoprim, Cephalothin, Cefotaxime, Lincomycin and Clarithromycin ). The most bacteria were resistant to lincomycin antibiotic
