Abstract

ABSTRACT Prying force formation at bolts is considered as an important problem in steel connection design. It affects the connection bearing capacity, ductility and serviceability negatively by increasing stresses induced inside connections. In the present work, behavior of steel connection under prying force is studied. A connection of steel beam-column has been modeled using software Revit program. Tension load is applied increasingly and the connection displacement has been measured until failure. Finite element simulation of steel angles under the effect of tension load and prying force has been studied. It is found that the connection has three phases of bearing behavior. Plastic hinge formation noticed increased with prying force presence.

Estimation of Groundwater Hydraulic Properties in Unconfined Aquifer in Teeb Area, South of Iraq

AuthorsTagreed Hameed Khlif, Ammar Jalil Almosawi, Ali Mohsen Hayder
JournalAdvances in Mechanics
Abstract

Description The evaluating of the hydraulic properties of the aquifer is very important for future forecasting of the quantitative reserves of groundwater and thus optimal management of this important resource. The hydraulic properties of groundwater are important in determining the velocity of groundwater movement and the storage and renewable quantities. The most important hydraulic characteristics are the transmissivity (T), hydraulic conductivity (K), stortivity (S) and specific yield (Sy). The hydraulic specifications of aquifer depend on the type of rock formations, if the formations are coarse and well-arranged grains, the hydraulic parameters will be bette

n-Dimensional Copulas on Quantum Logic

Abstract

In this paper, we study a new type of sub-copulas, which is defined on quantum logic. We review the most common definitions, relations and properties of such functions. We extend the definition of what is recently called 2-dimensional QL-copula to n-dimensional QL-copula with respect to order difference instead of the summation approach, see [5]. We compose this paper to present an alternative interpretation of QL-copula rather thanthe one that we have already defined by AlAdilee and Nanasiova (2009) using an approach depends on definingsub-copulason quantum logic.

EFFECT OF PENETRATION DEPTH ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF WALLING BEAM SHEET PILES USING FINITE ELEMENT METHOD

Abstract

Abstract:- In this paper, a truss retaining system on a cantilever sheet piles in a 300 meter length berth was studied using two dimensional plain strain analysis. The analysis of the soil continuum under the effect of active and passive pressure in addition to the cyclic load effect was extended by using the finite element method with the aid of the software Autodesk FEM ROBOT 2019. The most common analyses, designs and properties of such load cases were reviewed. The soil continuum was modeled using 15 node triangular element and the stress concentration for all the nodes was analyzed. The behavior of truss retaining system under the effect of active, passive and cyclic loads are predicted in this study by using FEM ROBOT software 2019.
