The current study was conducted to evaluate the water of Bahr Al-Najaf depression Using evidence of the biological diversity of crustaceans, it was considered the first study to evaluate the diversity of the crustacean in this depression, Samples were collected from November 2019 to January 2020.

Abstract: During the period from October 2001 till April 2002, a total of 102 aquatic birds, belonging to 14 species were collected from Bahr Al-Najaf depression, southwest of Al-Najaf city, Mid Iraq. These birds included Anas acuta, A. crecca, A. platyrhynchos, Aythya ferina, A. fuligula, A. nyroca, Fulica atra, Gallinula chloropus, Limosa limosa, Mareca penelope, M. strepera, Phoenicopterus roseusm, Spatula clypeata and Tadorna tadorna. These birds were infected with six species of trematodes (Australapatemon minor, Echinoparyphium recurvatum, Echinostoma revolutum, Notocotylus urbanensis, Podocotyle reflexa and Psilochasmus longicirratus), three species of cestodes (Diorchis americanus, Fimbriaria fasciolaris and Sobolevicanthus gracilis), two species of nematodes (Amidostomum acutum and Tetrameres sp.) and one acanthocephalan (Polymorphus boschadis).

جمعت عينات النواعم بمعدل مرتين شهرياً بواقع ست مكررات. في ايلول 2009 جمع 208 نموذج من القواقع العائدة الى نوعين (Bellamya bengalensis Melanopisi costata,) و32 نموذج من المحار العائدة الى اربعة انواع (Corbicula fluminalis, Corbicula fluminea, Pseudodontapsis euphraticus, Unio trigridis) من نهر الكوفة، وفي ايلول 2013 جمع 558 نموذج من القواقع العائدة الى ستة انواع إذ سجل ظهور أربع انواع جديدة في النهر هي (Lymnaea auricularia, Melanoides tuberculata, Melanopisi nodosa, Turritella sp.) و321 نموذج من المحار العائدة الى خمسة انواع إذ سجل وصول النوع (Dreissena polymorpha) الى نهر الكوفة. كما قيست بعض العوامل البيئية للنهر في سنتي الدراسة لما لها من تأثير في ظهور واختفاء الاحياء، إذ لوحظ ارتفاع الاس الهيدروجيني والاوكسجين المذاب عما هو علية في 2009، وانخفاض درجة حرارة الماء والمتطلب الحيوي للاوكسجين والملوحة .

During September 2013 encouraged 30 individual oysters scheme of Kufa River and appeared it return to age groups 2 and 3 years, suggesting it is a new entry to the environment. Physical and chemical factors of water were measured as the water temperature 28.8ºC, pH 7.7, DO 5.5 mg\l, BOD 1.7 mg\l and salinity 1 ppt. all these factors are suitable for the growth of zebra mussels.
