Dimerization of a mononuclear gold (I) complex to its corresponding dinuclear complex containing a cyclophane-NHC ligand‏

المجلة Elsevier
مختصر البحث

A mononuclear AuI-NHC complex was synthesized in good yield via the reaction of KAuCl4 with an imidazolium-linked cyclophane salt in the presence of a mild base. The new complex was fully characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The 1H NMR studies, supported by DFT analysis, show how the mononuclear AuI-NHC complex dimerizes to its corresponding dinuclear AuI-NHC analogue slowly in solution (DMSO or CH3CN). The thermodynamic properties show a distinctive preference for dinuclear Au formation over that of the monomer. We have also discussed the unconventional structural contrast between the experimental and computational geometrical analysis of the dinuclear AuI-NHC complex

مختصر البحث

In this study, we report the synthesis of a series of new gold compounds in different solvation media. First, gold(I) thiosemicarbazone (TSC) [Au–(TSC)2]Cl was synthesized by reacting [Au(SMe2)]Cl with a thiosemicarbazone ligand in acetonitrile. Then, we successfully managed to replace one of the monodentate thiosemicarbazone ligands with Cl to prepare the TSC–AuCl complex by the reaction of KAuCl4 with thiosemicarbazone in acetonitrile. In a different strategy, the reaction of KAuCl4 with thiosemicarbazone in methanol formed a [TSC–AuCl]AuCl2 complex of tridentate (NNS) thiosemicarbazone. All complexes were fully characterized by X-ray diffraction, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of the [Au–(TSC)2]Cl in DMSO-d6 solution showed two sets of signals, suggesting the presence of two complexes formed from (E)- and (Z)-TSC, respectively. X-ray studies showed only one complex from (Z)-TSC, and the (Z)-TSC ligands provide an exactly linear coordination arrangement around the Au(I) centres. X-ray crystallography showed [TSC–AuCl]+ cations in the AuCl2 salts to have a square pyramidal geometry. Complexes of TSC–AuCl and [TSC–AuCl]AuCl2 had limited stability, decomposing rapidly in solution, while the [Au–(TSC)2]Cl complex was stable in solution

مختصر البحث

The oxidation of dinuclear AuI complexes containing cyclophane‐bis(NHC) ligands by SOCl2, Br2 and I2 has been investigated. The outcome of the oxidation was dependent on the nature of the cyclophane‐NHC framework. The new complexes were fully characterised by X‐ray diffraction and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. When the AuI complex contained an ortho‐cyclophane framework (dictating short intra‐cation Au···Au distances), oxidation resulted in dinuclear AuII complexes of the form X–AuII(NHC)2–AuII(NHC)2–X (X = Cl, Br, I), the Au···Au distance being in the range 2.6055(3)–2.6501(1) Å. These AuII complexes are strongly luminescent. When the AuI complex contained an meta‐cyclophane framework (dictating longer intra‐cation Au···Au distances), oxidation with SOCl2 or Br2 resulted in dinuclear complexes containing AuI and AuIII centres of the form X–AuIII(NHC)2–X–AuI(NHC)2. NMR studies showed that interconversion of the AuI and AuIII sites within the complexes occurred at rates comparable to the NMR timescale.

المجلةTetrahedron
مختصر البحث

New cyclophanes containing two imidazole-2-thione moieties linked by two xylylene groups have been synthesized by the reaction of imidazolium-linked cyclophanes with sulfur in the presence of K2CO3. The conformational behaviour of the new cyclophanes was explored by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction studies. In cyclophanes containing o-xylylene or 2,4,6-trimethyl-m-xylylene linking groups, the imidazole-2-thione groups were mutually syn in both the solid state and in solution, the cyclophanes adopting a conformation reminiscent of the cone conformation of calix[4]arenes. Cyclophanes containing p-xylylene or m-xylylene linking groups exhibited two conformations in solution, one in which the imidazole-2-thione groups are mutually syn, the other in which they are mutually anti, and these conformations did not interconvert on the NMR timescale. Both conformations co-crystallised in the m-xylylene linked cyclophane, while for the p-xylylene-linked cyclophane the anti conformation crystallised separately.

مختصر البحث

Gold(III) N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes of form [Au(NHC)4Cl2]Cl were synthesized by reaction of KAuCl4 with bis- and tetrakis(imidazolium) salts in the presence of a mild base. Treatment of these complexes with KPF6 afforded four-coordinate AuIII complexes of form [Au(NHC)4](PF6)3. X-Ray crystallography showed the [AuIII(NHC)4]3+ cations in the hexafluorophosphate salts to have a square planar Au(NHC)4 moiety [Au⋯CNHC 2.024(4)–2.082(7) Å]. In the [AuIII(NHC)4Cl2]+ cations in the chloride salts, coordination about Au was tetragonally-distorted octahedral, the axial Au–Cl bonds being substantially longer [Au⋯Cl 3.148(2)–3.693(1) Å] than the equatorial Au–CNHC bonds [Au⋯C 2.024(4)–2.082(7) Å]. NMR and conductance studies suggested that the structures of the complexes seen in the solid state persisted in DMSO solution, except in one case where a chlorido ligand dissociated from [AuIII(NHC)4Cl2]+ to form [AuIII(NHC)4Cl]2+. The AuIII(NHC)4 unit was surprisingly robust. An AuIII complex was found to undergo H/D exchange reactions in D2O solution at 100 °C with no signs of decomposition detectable by 1H NMR spectroscopy. 1H NMR studies showed that various complexes containing AuIII(NHC)4 moieties underwent little or no decomposition when heated at 120 °C in DMSO-d6 for extended periods.

We report new cyclophanes containing imidazole-2-selone groups linked by xylylene rings. A set of imidazole-2-selone cyclophanes is synthesized by reaction corresponding to imidazolium cyclophanes with selenium in the presence of K2CO3. The structural behavior of the new imidazole-2-selone cyclophanes was determined by 1H and 13C NMR spectra and X-ray diffraction studies. Cyclophanes incorporating o-xylylene or mesitylene-m-cyclophane linked by selone groups were mutually syn in both the solid state and solution, and the cyclophanes showed a conformation similar to the cone conformation of calix[4]arenes. Cyclophanes incorporating p-xylylene or m-xylylene linked by selone groups showed two conformations in the solution: one mutually syn and the other mutually anti. There was no interconversion for both conformations observed on the NMR timescale. In the solid state, three conformations were detected for the p-xylylene-linked cyclophane: one is mutually syn and the other two are mutually anti and partial cone conformations. In the m-xylylene-linked case, only anti-conformation was characterized in the solid state. A density functional analysis was conducted to interpret the stability of the studied compounds and shed light on their origin. The energy preference analysis is in consistent agreement with the observed geometries and their co-existence.

ead the full text About Graphical Abstract Silver(I)-NHC complexes were synthesized by reacting Ag2O with imidazolium salts. These complexes were found to possess significant anticancer potential, particularly in their effectiveness against breast cancer cells. Description unavailable Abstract A new study focused on the synthesis of silver(I)-N-heterocyclic carbene complexes. The mono-Ag(I)-NHC complexes were successfully synthesized in high yield using a direct complexation method, which involved an excess of Ag2O and imidazolium salts (R= butyl, methylacetate) in dichloromethane. The bis-Ag(I)-NHC complexes, on the other hand, were synthesized using a 1 : 2 ratio of Ag2O and imidazolium salts. The ligands and resulting complexes were thoroughly characterized using analytical techniques such as FT-IR, NMR spectroscopy, LC–MS and elemental analysis. Subsequently, the synthesized complexes were tested against MCF7 breast cancer cells. The results of the study highlighted the remarkable anticancer potential exhibited by the Ag(I)-NHC complexes against breast cancer cells. Interestingly, it was observed that the mono Ag(I) NHC complexes demonstrated greater potency, with IC50 values ranging from 5 to 13.5 μg/mL, when compared to their bis-Ag(I)-NHC counterparts.
