Leadership and Team working
Leadership Experience:
• I was the chief of residents for 1 year for the period from 2010 to 2011
• Many of my supervisors saw the leadership instinct in me; therefore, they always charged me to lead the team and depend on me in many things far more than my colleagues.
• I have been elected for three consecutive years in Medical College to be the students’ representative. Thereby, I was in charge of liaising with the Education department regarding the exams organization and follow the teaching process. I was given a place in the monthly College Meeting to talk on behalf of my colleagues to improve the learning process
Team Working:
• I can work well both as a part of a team and independently, depending on what the situations calls for. During my internship and the following years of service, I would arrive in the morning; I use to ensure that the list for ward round is ready on time with all the investigation results of the patients. Although it is clearly defined role and often required to use my own initiative; by fulfilling that I functioned as team player as well. Indeed, I needed to anticipate what information my colleagues may need when making management decisions; I also needed to liaise with other departments or patients' Relatives when information was missing, which requires good communication and, sometimes, diplomacy.
• I have been always good at discussing problems with my colleagues so that can all improve and the team can provide a better service. I am more concerned about presenting the problem that concerns us all rather than placing the blame on some individuals, by which we can work towards resolving the issue as a team.
Supporting information
• I have a firm belief in the constant pursuit of knowledge and skill in life, including medical field. I am a quick learner and accept criticism with grace, to improve myself and to become a better doctor and person.
• I believe that change is inevitable, and without change there is no space for creativity or improvement. I can work under pressure and able to face different challenges.
• I’m trained to triage patients in A&E or outpatient clinic and to spot any warning signs or red flags, as well as monitoring patients in wards.
• In addition, i have a sense of knowing my limits and when to seek help from my seniors, and developed confidence by knowing what can be done and when.
• I hope to be given the chance to start working gradually while adapting steadily to this new atmosphere inside and outside hospital. I will need my seniors’ advice and guidance to be familiar with NHS system while ensuring patients safety.
