This paper introduces a comparative performance analysis of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) based Orthogonal Frequency division Multiplexing (OFDM) schemes. Different channel conditions for different environments and channels with specific impulse responses are simulated. Different wavelet families have been considered and their bit error probability is compared with the conventional FFT-OFDM system for AWGN, Rayleigh flat fading, and frequency selective fading channels. The obtained results show that the probability of error in the DWT-OFDM scheme is improved in many scenarios, even though the Cyclic Prefix (CP) is not used, which leads to increased spectral efficiency. The results also demonstrate that there is an error floor for some families of wavelets on the AWGN channel.
