Objective: To identify effect of ethyl alcohol extract of three plants, Cimetidine and Albendazole drugs in Hydatid Cysts disease in vitro and in vivo. Methodology: The present study was carried out in advanced zoology laboratory/science college-Kufa university from February, 2009 to May,2010. This study was carried out on 160 of the Mus musculus type and strain BALB / C infected with Echinococcus granulosus after determination LD50 for ethyl alcohol extracts of seeds and leaves of three plants (Peganum harmala, Zizyphus spina-christi and Olea europaea) and two drugs (Albendazole and Cimetidine) were studied in the viability of hydatid protoscolices of Echinococcus granulosus In vitro by using four different concentration (5%,10%,20% and 30%) for each extracts (0.25%,0.5%,1% and 2%) for albendazole and (2.5%,5%,10% and 20%) for Cimetidine. Result: The median lethal dose (LD50) for (Peganum harmala seeds,Zizyphus spina-christi and Olea europaea leaves) was estimated (487.5,4000,3500) mg/kg receptively. In vivo, the effect of ethyl alcohol extracts of Peganum harmala seeds in different doses(30,60) mg/kg and Cimetidine (3,6) mg/kg was studied on secondary hydatidosis in laboratory animal infected intraperitoneally with hydatid protoscolices. In vitro, the results showed that ethyl alcohol extracts of Peganum harmala seeds were the most effective viability of hydatid protoscolices followed by the ethyl alcohol extract of the Zizyphus spina-christi leaves , followed by the drug Cimetidine and the ethyl alcohol extract of the Olea europaea leaves when different concentration were used for each of them compared with the control group. In vivo, the results showed that ethyl alcohol extracts of Peganum harmala seeds and Cimetidine inhibition numbers and sizes of secondary hydatid cysts in laboratory animal and cause destruction of laminated and germinal layers of the treated cysts.
