ABSTRACT : Isatin was first synthesized in 1841 by Erdmann and Laurent by the oxition reaction of indigo dye by an oxiizing agent nitric acid/chromic acid. It was found in many plants, like Isatis tinctoria, Calanthe discolor and in cannonball tree. Isatin- azomethine had been studied for their important medicinal applications. The syntheses of Isatin- azomethines, that are quite compulsory pharmaceutical properties because of their structurally motivating antioxidant activities. Isatin - azomethines had been synthesized effectively via the reaction of Isatinwithvarious amins. Various spectroscopicaltechniqes were used to characterized the synthesized Isatins. The antioxidant capacity of Isatin-azomethines were predestined by representative spectroscopically techniques, employing radical’s DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl), FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) and Ferrous ions chelating activity assays compared to that of ascorbic acid. Isatin-azomethines displayed an superior scavenging activities paralleled to the ascorbic acid. |
