The current research was conducted in the poultry farm of the Animal Production Department of the Faculty of Agriculture/ University of Kufa from 7/5/2017 to 4/6/2017 to study the effect using hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum) and selenium in diets on productive and economic traits of Bikini ducks. The ducks chicks were fed with a starter diet from third week to the sixth week of the age of the four experiments were used: T1: Standard (Control) and T2: Giving a diet containing 3% hornwort powder, T3: Giving a standard diet with addition of selenium by 0.5 mg/kg feed, T4: Gives a diet containing 3% hornwort powder with the addition of selenium by 0.5 mg/kg feed. A total of 84 ducks chicks were raised at two weeks of age and were incubated in a closed-house, divided into Pens, each of which was 3 m2 randomly distributed in 4 treatments and 21 birds per treatment. Each treatment included three replicates (7 birds per replicate) The transactions were randomly distributed to covers until the end of the sixth week. The results showed a significant improvement (P<0.05) in the final body weight, cumulative weight gain, total feed intake, feed conversion ratio and economic figure of the addition of selenium to the diet with a lower final body weight, cumulative weight gain and total feed intake and economic figure for the treatment of hornwort use in diets. |
