The concrete precast sandwich panels called 3-D panels are one of the modern constructional materials common in the world today. These panels can be used as a system of bearing structure by itself or in combination with other structural systems. A 3-D panel is composed of two layers of mesh filled with polystyrene and connected together by a number of diagonal shear studs. Also, the mesh layers are shotcreted after being installed in place. The combined, half-combined or non-combined performance of the two layers of the mesh is fully dependent on the shear studs and their manner of arrangement. In this research, the role of shear studs in the performance of the 3-D panels under lateral loads is studied. This study is done in the form of a non-linear static analysis of the selected samples by the ABAQUS software. The obtained results show that the main role of the shear studs is to reduce the lateral deformations perpendicular to the loading plate and integration of the performance of the two layers of the steel mesh.
