Abstract: This study assessed the wells water quality of twenty wells of the desert region of Najaf province, Iraq, in 2006 and 2014. The water samples were taken from the wells to evaluate the suitability of water for irrigation purpose, using international and Iraqi standards. Parameters measured from each well include pH, in most cases is 7.5 to 7.6, EC falls in the range of 3.8 to 5.9 dS/m, TDS from1.9 to 2.9 g/l and SAR from 1.3 to 1.5 for the years 2006 and 2014 respectively. Results showed that 40% from the wells are suitable for irrigation in 2006, but just 10% from the wells are suitable for irrigation in 2014. |
