الخلاصة

The effect of copper on the density of the nauplius larvae and adult of the barnacles Balanus amphitrite amphitrite was studied at cooling system water supply of Al-Najibiyah thermal power plant for the period from December 2010 until November 2011, as samples were collected twice monthly by six replicates of the study area as well as measured the copper concentration in water. Results showed that the density of adult barnacles ranged between (55-139) individual / 100 cm2 nauplius, larvae ranged between (0- 14) larvae/ 100L and copper concentration ranged between (0.02-0.4) ppm. It was shown a positive relationship between adult density and copper concentration, while a negative relationship between nauplius larvae density and copper concentration.
