Awards: • RMIT Publications Awards 2005, 2006 (also shared 2004 Award with Professor Richard Harris). • RMIT Teaching Award, 2007. • Best Paper Awards: IEEE TENCON, Melbourne, 2005; DSPCDC, Taiwan, 2006. • IEEE First Award for PhD Projects (3 times) at RMIT Annual PG Conferences 2004, 2005, 2006. • Received a letter of “Appreciated Reviewer” from the IEEE in 2006. • Granted the “Distinguished Academic Award” by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Iraq, 15 April 2012. 6. Research Achievements & Contributions: • Chief Investigator on an ARC Discovery Grant for 2005-2008, which led to the discovery of short word-length processing (SWL). • Other achievements: contribution to the unresolved problem of multicomponent signals, design of a new phase tracking system, a new class of time-frequency distributions with frequency estimation algorithm, introduction of generalized functions in time-frequency analysis, a wireless radio channel model, simplified system approach, autocorrelation-like function for image processing, and many works on OFDM systems. • Over 200 refereed publications (including 58 journal papers; 151 conference papers, 6 books, 2 book chapters). Most of these papers are downloadable from IEEE, Elsevier, and Springer websites. • Attended over 50 International Conferences and contributed to the TPC & chaired sessions in many leading conferences like IEEE TENCON, IEEE ATC, ATNAC. • Vice Chair & Editor, IEEE TENCON 2005 in Melbourne. • Senior Member, IEEE; Senior Member, Australian Computer Society (ACS). • Reviewer for leading IEEE, Elsevier, IET, and many other journals. • Examiner for over 50 national and international PhD Theses. • Delivered several invited talks at various universities and conferences. • Research Impact: The works of Prof Z. M. Hussain's have been cited and extended by leading scientists, press of prominent universities (e.g., Oxford, 2013, Cornell, 2013), and over 20 PhD Theses at prominent institutions (e.g., Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, 2010, Université de Grenoble, France, 2013; NUS, Singapore, 2014). In 2011, Prof Martin Bastiaans (a figure of SP from Netherlands) extended the T-Class (proposed by Z. M.
