Professor Ahmad Al-Fatlawi,is a specialist in international humanitarian law, holds a PhD in law from the Higher Institute at the Lebanese University in 2012, currently he is a professor at the Faculty of Law/ University of Kufa since 2002, , He has authored eight books, specializing in IHL , its references for many researchers in Arab and Iraqi Universities. His first book was published in 2002, by the Dar Al-Thaqafa publisher in Jordan, to be the first book in the Arab region to discuss the humanitarian aspect of banning anti-personnel landmines. he wrote several specialized articles in different legal Journals. in 2019 he was chosen as the best professor in the Faculty of Law / University of Kufa Currently participating in a team to investigate ISIS crimes against women in Iraq, with number of professors and specialists in international criminal law, within the International Criminal Law Association ( ICBA) project in Barcelona.He was awarded as the best researcher in the competition that launched by ICRC in 2018 for his researcher (Children vs. Serious Violations: An Analytical Legal Study in Light of Contemporary Armed Conflicts) Prof .Ahmed alfatlawi had been engaged in several academic forums, like his participated in the advanced seminar studies in IHL, launched by the ICRC and the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law in 2017, and he obtained associate diploma in IHL. He was chosen by ICRC, as an expert (peer review ) on the Third Geneva Convention in 2017 in 2019, ICRC nominated him as an expert (peer review ) on the guidelines for military manuals and instructions on the protection of the environment in times of armed conflict.
